Look out the window? I was out watching the stunting in it sunny-jim, well they tried but it was slick as fuck. Good show, most of us freewheeled the bikes down the hill to load up in the carpark, queue was stooooopidly long.

My bike decided it was going to stop working when we arrived, pinched a wire somewhere... after that's sorted, gonna go up the Ace if you fancy popping out one friday and meeting me n Gixerman. Vatican? Oh... dare I ask? lol

Hey Mister February, bike's looking sweet as fuck. Love the stuff you have continued to do on it while I have been a lazy shite. Have got my arse into gear and bought some stainless AND machined some spacers so I might ACTUALLY get round to properly mounting the rear subframe - Which I have finally straightened. Heeeeeeeeeey buddy! how you doin mate. Bout time you showed your mooey on here. I got your email the other day, and at the bottom it said "sent from your i-phone" I lmfaro, and thought, you flash git, ha ha.

I know you've been working loads of hours lately mate, but your right, you've got to make more time for the power of dreams, ha ha. So, crack on buddy.

Her indoors has got me renovating the fuckin bath room at the moment. Plaster off the walls, ceiling down, new fuckin everything. And guess what mate? she wants mood lighting! I said to her the fuckin light switch in a bath room is a bit of string mate, if your in a mood when you pull it, then thats about as close as your ever gonna get to "Mood lighting" Then as normal the conversation went something like, "If the fuckin bath room had handle bars and a petrol tank, I bet you'd think of a way to make the lights better then, WOULDN'T YOU!!!" And we were off!

Any way mate, we came to a compromise. She gets [u]EXACTLEY</u> what she wants, or sees to it I become sperm bound over the coming weeks.

We're going light shopping this Saturday mate.

Anyway Le matey bloke, when we gonna see some photos of your handy work, you know the saying on here, "photos or it didnt happen" Looking forward to seeing what you been up to bud.

Find out who truly is your role model - mine was Gandhi.
DON'T SCROLL DOWN YET!!

FIRST, do the simple math below.
THEN, scroll down to find your hero.

It is truly remarkable just how accurate this is!
1) Pick your favorite number between 1 and 8
2) Multiply your choice by 3
3) Add 3
4) Multiply again by 3
5) You'll get a 2 digit number.....maybe 42, for example
6) Add the digits together. Example 4 and 2 = 6

Now Scroll down.

With that number, see who your ROLE MODEL is from the list below:
1. Albert Einstein

2. Oprah Winfrey

3. Mother Theresa

4. Ronald Reagan

5. Bill Gates

6. Gandhi

7. Eleanor Roosevelt

8. Babe Ruth

9. Jonathan "CBRRRT" Lungley

Hi mate, welcome to ASF.
I'm not sure what clearance issues you have, is it tyre on the chain? What size tyre did you use?
Did you work out your offset corectly and fit the right size spacers?

I had a minor issue with my wheel rim brushing the arm, so I took my grinder to the arm and took off about a mm.

Hope that helps mate.

One more thing mate, pop into "welcome to the madness" and introduce yourself, we look forward to hearing a bit about you fella.

http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1258005509.jpg

You need to put on the swing arm protector, then check your ride height mate, although that said my chain sits on the rubber protector. I never saw it as an issue, as so did the chain when I had the blade arm in. Dont take this the wrong way mate, but are you a bit nervious about the conversion and looking for problems that are not there. :D

Tomanyprojex
22-03-2010, 03:04 AM
CBRRRT's right mate, it's normal fer it to sit on the arm, moves up a bit when yer arse is in the seat... Wouldn't run it without the protector though, all the alloy shavings from yer swingarm might jam in the chain and make it wear out faster [:o)]

While I'm here Jonny boy, do you still have yer old VIFFER wheel studs? If so could you measure the diameter of the splines for me. I'd do it mesel but I'm 6000 miles away from me shed and I'm doing some thinkin':)

Couple of things..........

Remember that pig ugly thing on my bike?

http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1269477127.jpg

Nooooo, not Poppet, that headlamp I made.

Well I've been thinking of doing a bit more with fiberglass, but this time rather than just start sloshing resin about I thought I might do me homework first and find out how to do it properly.

Ok, so the first thing I found out was I need to make a [u]plug</u> of what I want it to look like.

NOPE, NOT THAT TYPE OF PLUG

http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1269510447.jpg

NOPE, NOT THAT TYPE EITHER.

http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1269506416.jpg

Just fuckin listen and I'll show you the plug I made from layers of 12mm MDF, and cut loads of fiddly little fuckin bits that kept stickin to me fingers when I tried to glue the little bustards together. 22 bits all together.

I really couldnt be fucked to photo every step of making the plug so here it is nealy finished shaping.

http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1269522073.jpg

http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1269503361.jpg

http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1269520860.jpg

I'm quite happy with the overall shape and size, but not with the top of the nose bit, so I took the fine blade out of my block plane and reshaped it.

http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1269565224.jpg

http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1269472868.jpg

I wanted the brow to be slightly over slung and I think I managed to get the look I was after.

http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1269557773.jpg

http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1269505049.jpg

Now loads of sanding and filling

http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1269482104.jpg

It looked smoother than an East end car salesman, but a shot of primer showed up more inperfections.

http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1269474005.jpg

more filla, I used two pack wood filler.

http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1269504005.jpg

Dry's quite quick and will flex with the MDF should it move.

http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1269519730.jpg

more sanding

http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1269482874.jpg

more primer

http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1269466928.jpg

and more primer

Now then, because I want to make the mould in two halves I need to scribe a bit of MDF to the profile of the centre of the mask

http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1269494566.jpg

And thats what I did

http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1269494533.jpg

There are a couple of places where there is a mm gap, but its not a problem coz um gonna fill em with soft non-dry oil putty.

this is it from the back

http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1269528733.jpg

after a bit more sanding I used a filler primer, about 6 coats with loads of sanding in between. Once I got a flawless finish I gave it 4 coats of car body Turtle wax to seal it.

http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1269494032.jpg

Then both the mask and the halving form got 4 coats of soft wax release agent

http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1269474963.jpg

http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1269531997.jpg

And thats where I am right now. At the weekend when I have lots of time I'm gonna set up the plug, give it a spray with 3 coats of PVA then 2 gel coats and start allpying the layers of glass, about 6 in all. From that I will be able to cast my new mask and have the satisfaction I didnt pay some robbing cunt a fortune for it.

Happy days! :D

Yep Papa I'm a fiddler mate and get bored quick, once I've finnished with the mask I already have the next thing in the planning stages. I've seen quite a bit of cool stuff lately and I want me some.

Big bike run from the Ace Café to Southend-on-sea next weekend mate, bound to be loads of fighters there to cream over. I'll have my camera with me, so I'll post some pics.

CBRRRT
26-03-2010, 07:05 AM
Alright then, so tonight I got in and decided to mount the mask..... 'No not like that you dirty fucker'......
mount it on the stand

http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1269572822.jpg

The joint needed to be filled so I used soft putty, the type a glazer uses to replace glass in a wooden frame.

http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1269566420.jpg

easy to poke in and smooth off to get a nice neat corner joint

http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1269601211.jpg

Once I went all the way round I gave it another coat of wax, then applied the first coat of gel evenly over the surface of the mask and the stand. Its a good idea to put some clothes back on at this point because any pubic hairs that drop into the gel coat will show in the final product.

http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1269565895.jpg

Once the gel coat becoms tacky, you can run a brush lightly over it and leave brush strokes without disturbing or moving the surface.

http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1269578214.jpg

Now I'm gonna let it cure for 24 hours before applying the glass matt and resin.

26-03-2010, 09:14 AM
Thanks Bjórn, I guess when you have a passion for something, (for me its Streetfighters) you tend to put in a little extra effort. Its not just what you see me post on the forum mate, its also the effort finding the correct information, cross checking with other sources of information and then making an informed interpritation of whats required to get the job done.

I guess that I am lucky because I did a 4 year 'city and guilds' apprenticeship as a carpenter and joiner when I was a young man and 22 years on the tools before 12 years as a construction site manager. I can work with my hands as well as my head.

CBRRRT
27-03-2010, 05:19 AM
Before I went to bed last night I nipped back down to the shed and trimmed the edges of the gel coat just to neaten things up a bit.

http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1269699176.jpg

Before I went off to work I couldnt resist doing a bit more. The vids I watched on youtube said to thicken along the center edge with some compound, so I did.

And thats all I'm prepaired to say on that subject

http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1269633187.jpg

Next I applied two layers of fiberglass tissue, then two of the bigger weave stuff. (Thats a technical term us fiberglassers use)

"Bigger weave stuff"

Anyway, it went all black.

http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1269713842.jpg

Now some people say "once you've had black you'll never go back"

But this stuff did........ look, its gone pink again.

http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1269650274.jpg

Next I went out into the garden and found a big sharp stick.
This stage you have to be really carefull coz you could av someones eye out.

Anyway, I got stuck in with the stick, poking and prodding the mould with it and shouting stuff like
"GED IN THERE YA BASTARD"
and
"LET GO YA LITTLE FUCKER"

http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1269690877.jpg

And it did!

http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1269640023.jpg

It needed a bit of a clean up, but that was no biggy

http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1269659725.jpg

Now I can chuck away the mounting stand, and start preping for the gel coat to be applied on the second half of the mould

http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1269724342.jpg

Wax on............... Wax off.............. Wax on..........

Now then, all waxed up and ready to go on the other side

http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1269727254.jpg

after the two gel coats I left it to cure overnight, same as before.

Next morning started with two layers of fiberglass tissue, then two layers of the big stuff

http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1269747468.jpg

Same as before

http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1269744809.jpg

then I seperated the two halves and ate the plug with baked beans and nice bottle of <s>cian,</s> <s>kyan,</s> <s>queant,</s> Stella.

http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1269755817.jpg

I drilled 4 holes and used 4 x 10 milling meter bolts to hold the two halves together.

http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1269796888.jpg

The two halves didnt quite seperate exactly and there was a very small kink in the join. No biggy, I filled the joint with more putty.

http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1269771745.jpg

then gave it all a good coating of even more wax.

http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1269746785.jpg

Now I'll leave it over night before applying the gel coat that will be the out side face of the finished mask.

Next 3 layers of glass and resin, and left that all day while I went off to work

http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1269950910.jpg

About an hour ago popped it from the mold. It needs a bit of filling here and there but for a first attempt I dont think its to bad really

bloody excellent work on the mask mate! you are one talented man! I learnt how to make molds and fibreglass etc building boats for a living and being taught how to do it, not by teaching myself off what I see on a video. great work mate!

My old gov, the guy that taught me to be a joiner said of all the apprentices he had over the years, he only had to show me something once, and I got what he ment. I'll never forget that old guy, and just how muck I owe him.

Thanks for the complement mate.

So anyway,

I'm on my way home from work tonight, and this guy in a wheel chair is coming towards me.

Half his face was missing, he only had one eye and one ear, his left arm was gone up to his elbow and he had no right leg.

As he came towards me he was shouting "you fuckin cunt" and "come here you bald wanker, I'll fuckin kill ya, you prick"

To be honest,

I dont think he was all there ;)

Thanks mate, to be honest I wonder sometimes if the thread is starting to get a bit boring, but when I get feedback like yours and the other lads that have commented, I think well as long as you guys are enjoying it, then I'll keep on posting. Be rude not to really.

If you go to page 1 there is an index mate, from there you can cherry pick most of the "how I did stuff"

Thanks again you guys, you're a top bunch of blokes.

Thats it then, all done. I used the guts from the black aftermarket lamp unit I had on before the preditor mask, and it was a bit of a win really as in wasnt planned, but fitted perfectly into the back of my home made jobby.

I'm not 100% happy with the colour yet, so thats something I might change in the future.

A+ Jon!

Looks awesome!

Enjoy the spring and summer now!

Btw what size of the drill did you use when making the holes for the studs bigger, i read that the studs are 13.1mm so i guess a 13mm? or ?

Thanks lads, now get stuck in and do your own one off.

13mm blaa, yep mate, thats the one you want.

One of the other Aussie lads has asked me for it rod, so after the bank holidays it will be winging its way over to him, if he still wants it that is.

http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1270771042.jpg

Twin Cats eye headlight comes complete with bulbs.

Width 165mm Approx

Height 71mm Approx

Depth 130mm Approx

E-marked

The headlight has dip & main beam with two 12v 55w halogen H3 bulbs

Bottom Mount

After having 3 other units on it I really thought (#4) the one I made was going to be the one, but no. Anyway heres hoping #5 does it for me, or that will be making a sharp exit too.

Funny fuckers aint we, but when its right, its right, and I'll know it.
