This is the top yoke I got from ebay, and below is the front lamp unit.

I may do a bit of fiberglassing to the unit Dave.

I've got to agree with Huey mate... Twin spots won't do your so far fantastic build any favours.... The Superduke option is a good one.. Is it just me or are those risers fucking hoooooogely tall?

They are a bit Mike but it isnt as bad as it looks mate. That said I didnt like the way they look where they fit to the top of the yoke so I got out my pencil and file and made them look a little more like they were ment to be there.

Nice work on the risers Jon , are you slipping the fork legs through a bit or are they flush with the top yoke cause I think if you bring them through a touch it will hide the height just nicely;)

P.S. Top idea on the head light mate and if Im not mistaken you can make use of the built indicators to[^]

Its been a wrench mate, but I never was truly happy with it the way it is now. For 20 odd years I have had Streetfighters in my blood, and its like a drug mate. I was at my local motorcycle meet last night and you would not believe how many manufacturers are trying to copy the Streetfightr thing in their off the peg bikes. Sad they think they have got the essance of fighting, but good for us because of the dona parts that are now around.

Anyway, once I have got all the bits I need to 'Get Naked' I'm gonna attack it and hopfully turn it round in a weekend.

Is that defenatly true about Jacktar drinking ass piss Rod? and liking it!! I must admit I always wondered mate......Hmmmm!

Just checked Dave, the indecators wontgo in as the back silver reflector is tight to the glass. Never mind mate I'm thinking of mounting them in the side panels of my SUXEEEY front fender. Spent a bit of time removing the fairing and fitting the new top yoke.

Quite a bit of wiring to tidy up at the front and my break lines are a bit to short.

Still undecided on the front lamp unit, so still looking for the right one.

I went the same route matey. It looked very daunting to begin with but I took one wire at a time and slowly made my way through it.

I pulled everything back into the space infront of the air intakes and re attached the earth to one of the bolts that hold in the tray. Then I found it easy to cable tie all the bits and bobs like the fuse box etc, to where ever I could.

I tried to keep as much as I could behind the intakes so as not to restrict the air flow into the Enginey bit.

Once I got everything where I wanted it I set about shortening wires and soldering them back together.

All in all it took about 4 hours, so its not that bigger job.

LOL Cheers Si, it may kook like I just get stuck right in but I like to think the job through before I get stuck in. Once I have done it in my mind, then I charge ahead and hopefully I ironed out all the problems before I start.

As for the clutch cable throtle and break lines, everything is, as is. I do have plans to change the break lines at a later date for steel braded jobbies, but I need a few paydays first.

Cheers Large man, Harry and Fighter, I always intended to do it but I didnt want it to look Kak with the rusty old zorst, and thats why the spastic went back on. Still all is well now and it got loads of looks when I ran it down the road yesterday.

Thanks Rod, but I still think I have a lot to learn from you guys, and it is what it is because of you guys. My thinking is if you want to get good at something, then mix with people that will make you push yourself a bit harder to keep up.

The old grey sludge is starting to bubble once more and I'm planing a few more changes in the near future. I'm bidding on a Busa front lamp on ebay at the moment and if I win it then I'm gonna get a bit more adventurious with Larges blue foam fiberglassing method, so whatch this space.

Thanks again for all the kind words lads, from you guys it means a lot.

You can have it or not Dave, lol, but if you remember I told you if my Blade came out half as good as yours I would be happy matey. Well its almost there Fella but there is still a bit to do. Now I have the basis of a decent fighter its now a rolling project, and like you guys, I dont think it will ever truly be finished. Your guidence with the wiring was a valuable asset mate because it was a start point, and to be honest the hardest question is "Where the fuck do I begin".

I never had any problems with my throttle cable mate, and what you said did flash across my mind when I was fitting my flat bars. Perhaps because I used flat bars it solved the problem of the cables.

My front break lines were a bit short from the splitter up to the lever, but there was loads of play down to the discs. So I unbolted the splitter and lifted it slightly. Its not perfect, but will do for now untill I can afford to get replacments.

When I took off the fairing at the weekend I carefully bubble wraped it and put it in the loft just in case I wanted to put it back at some point. Well it only took one ride down the road for that ship to sail, so its going on ebay to help pay for a few more bits, I will die if I dont get, ha ha.

CBRRRT
11-05-2009, 03:16 PM
I did exactly that Neil, and the answer to your other question, no I havent had any problems with it at all. I check the level in there every time I remove the tank, [which has been quite a lot lately] and the coolant level has been constant. I got the bottle from ebay, I found a guy on there that converted drink bottles in to coolant bottles. I think it looks a lot nicer and when you look at the back of the bike, that fucking ugly white one is gone. It also opens the gap behind the engine which helps air flow around the motor and helps to keep my regulator cool and stop it popping. I'm making a fibreglass shroud for the Busa headlamp I won on ebay for 99p at the moment but I'll have the tank off for you tomorrow night and run off a few pictures mate.

I got it off ebay and the guy said it was from a quad bike if that helps. It looks better on screen than it really is. To be honest its a lump of shite matey.

That said I am going to use the bottom half of the mask to overlay fibreglass as a pattern then relese the glass from it and glass it to the top half I'm making at the moment.

OK so I got my Busa headlamp fitted and wired in, happy days! I then went round the glass with duct tape and choped up a wheet-a-bix box to over lay my fibreglass onto. At this stage of the game Im only looking to get a basic shape and the centre for the light. I have other plans for the bottom half of the shroud, so I'm pleased with what I have done so far.

It is not quite right on the right side as it kinks in just a tiny bit, but when the unit is finishe it will get filled and sanded.

Still at this time all I'm looking for is a basic shape.

CBRRRT
18-05-2009, 03:44 AM
I have cut the small row of lights from the bottom of my clock unit that shows the turn signal, neutral, oil, side stand etc, and I'm gonna mount them in the top of the unit so I used Larges blue foam method to build up the top of the unit and give me something to overlay the fibreglass onto.

http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1242609782.jpg

http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1242616343.jpg

I added a bit of glass to the top corners of the unit so I have something to work the sides into.

18-05-2009, 03:53 AM
Thats about where I am at the moment, and I'm quite happy so far that its not disproportionate with the bike.

http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1242605707.jpg

Still got quite a lot to do, but I made a start and its not as daunting as I thought it would be.

Perhaps my methods are a bit weard, but I try to figure around problems and use whats at hand.

Got quite a lot on over the next week so it will have to wait now untill next weekend to get the structure finished.

Then I can start on the filling and sanding and remove the rough edges.

Tune in next week for another exciting installment.

I got all the paint codes from Daytona design matey, so shouldnt be to hard to match it up. I think I'm gonna get it in spray cans and do the clear coat myself mate.

I should have the fibreglassing knocked on the head this weekend so I'll be able to get filling and sanding soon after.

Took it over to Bently Green last night mate, quite a few people stood round it scratching their heads with a puzzeled look on their faces hahaha.

Hey Scorp, how you doin matey, nice of you to drop in Fella. I was arrested for touching Porky once, but it was never proved mate, it was slung out of court because he was working as a rent boy at the time and they couldnt get any prints off his sphincter coz it was streched out to the max. The boy does have a pritty mouth though mate!

Tomanyprojex is a mad as fuck FFFF,FRENCH scintist and has a set of Vernier Calipers [They sound French too] and a lathe. He can make le Honda C90 rear wheel fit the front of la GSXR 1000, and if you ask me its the best place for it.

Surt's just MAD! he thinks he can build a Fighter from a car, he keeps posting what he thinks are photos of a Honda civic engine, but they are just blank pages........ You see, he sees the pictures in his head, and thinks we all can too. Just say things like "Wow that looks fantastic mate" and "Jesus thats cool". It keeps him happy and helps cut down on his medication mate.

Harry's a top bloke too mate and is saving up for an engine for his Banbusa. If you ride past his house you will quite often see him in his front garden sitting on a frame and two wheels, twisting his right wrist and yelling BRUUUUUUUUUUM BRUUUUUUUUUUUUM!!!!!!!!!!! at the top of his voice, then doing screechey break sounds.

Hueyonablade is also a top quality bloke and is the world famous inventer of the ZXR 638 to Fireblade front fender conversion.

HUEYONABLADE, HUEYONABLADE, HUEYONABLADE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Banditrod's errrrrrrrr, Bandit! was in Streetfighters mag a few months ago, and I have kept a candle lit in his honor ever scince.

GIX11 is the sites overlord, and here's the weard thing matey...........in the 3000 years this web site has been running......... No one has ever seen him! Brrrrrrrrruh, how fuckin spooky is that?????? I know mate, chilling isnt it!

Anyway matey, lots of top blokes on here from all over Fella, so start a thread and show US what YOU can do.

Welcome to the mad house mate.

There are a few things I need to do before the weekend so I have a model to fibreglass too.

I had to drill a few holes in the mask to attach it to the blue foam.

http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1242982544.jpg

No biggy, I'll fill them later with a bit more resin.

http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1242946773.jpg

I cut a couple of foam blocks to attach to the back so I can form the sides of the mask.

I used a water based glue so I didnt melt the foam. No more nails is good and sticks like shit to a blanket.

http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1243038740.jpg

I might slightly undercut the bottom of the mask so I added a block of foam to the inside of the model just to thicken that area.

http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1242966568.jpg

OK, leave it for a couple of days and I can start attacing it with files grinders drills and anything else that will make a noise and upset the neighbours.

I got the basic shape I was looking for with the blue foam and gave it a coat of water base primer just to seal the surface.

http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1243109716.jpg

I then started to shosh on the resin

http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1243101420.jpg

And a layer of fibreglass.

http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1243055118.jpg

Fuckin stinks dont it. Wasnt long before I was away with the little people......MAN!

http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1243087179.jpg

Once it had gone off I yanked out the blue foam

http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1243069185.jpg

and got the bones of something to work with.

Once I set about it with a jig saw I could start to see something evolve. I cut it big because its easier to trim a bit off than it is to add a bit on.

http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1243087399.jpg

It looks a bit in ya face at the moment because its that fuckin orible pink colour.

Its also a bit on the bland side, so I'm thinking of adding some 3D to give it a bit of definition.

I want to mount the warning lights in the top of the shroud so I cut em off the bottom of the clocks and extended the wires using the bits I hacked out of the loom a week or two ago.

http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1243125287.jpg

http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1243196533.jpg

http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1243133960.jpg

The wire I had wasnt the same colour so I tagged them with a little bit of tape and wrote the original colours on it so I can connect them up at a later date.

http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1243152566.jpg

Now I need to shosh on loads of filla to start leveling all the surfaces.

http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1243142687.jpg

The issue I had with the bottom right of the shroud kinking in can now be resolved by bringing it back out with the two pack filla.

http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1243210056.jpg

And even more fliia...........Oh and loads of sanding too!

http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1243182733.jpg

Takin shape, and you know what? I like it!!

http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1243153863.jpg

Tomorrow I'll give it a coat of primer

http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1243115512.jpg

Poppet helped me get an idea what it would look like by sitting on the bike for me.

http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1243137462.jpg

I'm happy with it so far, and I'm not to sure I'm gonna add anything to it apart for blinkers and paint.

Is the headlight mounted on the forks or fairing mount? Looks a bit big if it's mounted on the forks. Also might want to add a radiator protector.Otherwise some stray ass stone is gonna punch a big hole... Poppet is pretty fit by the way - The boy done good :) Not sure about the garden hose dispenser on the tailpiece though....

The headlight is mounted on the forks matey and its really ridgid, to be honest the light and shroud weigh fuck all. Mike is it possible to get a rad protector for a Blade, or is it gonna be another project.

Whats wrong with the hose mate? Everyone raved over the OCC fire bike. This is the CBRRRT gardening bike. I'm fitting a Flymo to the front and a barrow to the back next week.

I'll let Poppet know she has a fan on ASF matey, I'm sure it'll give her ego a boost. Bless!!

Yeh I gotta agree with Huey on this one too Jon me ol' mate! That h/light look HUGE hangin off the front of ur bike like that... Jst my opinion but I rekon u need something 'sharper' to match the tail n also hang in closer to the bike, not about to overtake ur front guard. But hey, thats jst me man! The work u put into that is pretty damn awesome!

Oh n I'd probably angle ur warning light up to face u more too...

Tomanyprojex
25-05-2009, 07:41 AM
I'm with Huey and Fight fan.. I thought it looked a bit big and it doesn't really match the lines of the rest of the bike which are sharp as. The busa unit is pretty big to start with so maybe just add a small spoiler to the top to cover the clock. Tidy up the rest of the housing and you could spray that directly. Just my 2 cents. "Fuck off you don't know what you are talking about" is of course a reasonable response to pissed ramblings :D

I think you guys are a top bunch of blokes and I wouldnt want you blowing warm air up my arse with "Looks fantastic mate" and "Top job" It was a lot of work, but we all make mistakes lads, and at the end of the day a turd is a turd no matter how you look at it.

Youre dead right about the warning lights Lance, sitting on the bike they dont sit right. Shame really coz I got everything working yesterday. Oh well!!!

Thanks for being so honest, you hartless bunch of cunts, lol.

I'm gonna go out and stab it with a screw driver now, or perhaps stick it on ebay and sell it for loads of money!!!
Some daft cunt is bound to want it.

Any takers. hahahahahahaha!!!
