mate well done on the scraping, it anit easy, have you tryed scraping sitting down or only standing up. i haven't got that far yet, to be perfectly honist though, i haven't been out on my bike ( either of them ) for about 3-4 months now so will be out of practice, need to get out there soon,

BTW keep up the good work, and keep practcing you'll get there

well after 4 months of not having a licence or my bike i finally am back with nature.

Time to get this rim sorted, i have no money but due to crappy roads and persistant lock stoppie attempts
i have a bald front tyer so im just going to put the rim on.

My question is will i have to change calapers or will the vtr250 calaper fit the cbr250rr disk because its a good 10mm wider.
and also the braided lines i have are off a cbr therefore dont reach my bars' so i was only going to run one disk atm.
should leave the other disk off or just leave it on their with no calaper??

i just discovered that the speedo cable on the vtr250 runs from the spacer. The cbr rim has no speedo cable.

Do any of you know how to rig up a speedo cable to your rear rim ???

please explan coz that sounds like somthing i should have known about lol

pushbike speedos come with a magnet (glue to wheel) plus a sensor (on wire, glue to inside of fork leg) and there's you're speedo. I run a Sigma unit (~$40) but I've had durability problems, others haven't though (personally I reckon it's because they ride like pussies, but that could just be me being an asshole). They do go up to 300kph (rocket propelled pushies?).

I have one of those Acewell speedos... fair enough it costs $267 delivered.. but at least it will be better quality than a plain jane bike speedo... this speedo runs off a magnet I have attached to my front right disc rotor and a sensor that I have attached to my right front fork strut... will post pic shortly.

I recommended these speedos from EXben (extreme creations) 100%

At $267 those acewells are damned good value. If you can afford it give Ben a call.

Also if Ben's supplying it you can be sure that the quality will be there.

There was someone on here that went the cheap option and has replaced it a few times due to the cheaper ones not being water proof.. Honestly, go for this one first, you wont regret it as they are a top unit.

what diameter are the new rotors? the same? If they are the same you can probably get away with just spacing your caliper out. Do you have a caliper mount on both fork legs or are you getting cbr forks as well? sorry we dont get that bike here in the states so i dont know.

The vtr 250 has the same front end as the cbr only it runs one disk and has risers and bars'. I checked last night and the calapers are the same vtr/cbr and the rotors are the same diameter. The vtrs rotors have less contact surface but the extra size of the cbrs in made up on the inside.
So it looks like it should all just bolt on. the only problem is the speedo and it looks like ill have to save a few more pennies.

Thanks for all your help will keep you updated :)

Hows this i lost my key!!!

Now i have to pay 90$ to get a new one cut grrr there goes some of the braded line fund.

Also i have just realised that the cbr250rr disks are about .5 - 1cm smaller in diameter then the vtrs..
will this matter or does it make it more then just a bolt on swap???

o well get my key cut saturday and im getting the spacers so ill see what happends this weekend

Peace guys

vtr, i dont know how it is over there but alot of time from aftermarket suppliers you can get a key switch and two keys cheaper then that. I looked for one for my 1990 gsxr front end and it was $20usd with two keys .

i was quoted 129$ for a new barrel with 2 keys 180$ to get a locksmith to come out and cut a key for the barrel.

And i rang the wreckers about my spacers and they said they could cut at key for my barrel for 90$
