Front caliper adapter brackets

Hey you lot, I,ve got a set of K2 forks but they have different mounting bolt spacing than my calipers. Have seen where people make up brackets that bolt to the forks then hang the calipers off them. Is this a good idea? What material is best? How thick etc?

6061 Al would the material you want .. other than that i dont know .. Position of the calipers might be a problem ...

No, better leave it out till I get this sorted, I'm told brakes are a roadworthy item :(

Just get a set of the stock 6 piston calipers off ebay

Or better still a set of the 4 piston ones from the 750.

They'll be less than $100 and much simpler fit than an adaptor that won't be roadworthy

I had the same dilemma and eventually just bit the bullet and bought a set that fit. A lot safer and easier.

It is my understanding that adaptors are ok as long as they are bolt on and are made from a single piece of metal (ie not welded) You also have to make sure that all corners are radiused so that they don't case a build up of stress in the material.
