View Full Version : Electrical problem?

I finally had some time over the last couple of days to do some work on the GS, got my Acewell speedo hooked up and my new number plate lights. I charged up the battery, now the bike won't start. The starter motor shows no sign of wanting to go. I think there is power getting there as the warning lights on the dash dim when I push the start button.

Any suggestions as to where I should start looking?

Button ?

Fuse ?

Leads or wireing ?

Started motor relay ?

Give the starter a "ZAP" with a live 12v feed ?

Hmmmm it was starting fine before? I would temporarily disconnect the new stuff you installed. I had the same issue last month couldn't find what was flattening a brand new battery. Luckily I had another alternator. Problem solved.

Battery connections? is the battery actually holding 12.5 ish to 13 volts. Tried rocking the bike in gear to see if the starter is jammed or stuck? or give the starter a wake up with 12 volts.

I haven't had the bike running for a couple of months now. I have another play tomorrow and see what I can come up with.

Have you had the battery on a charger/conditioner while it wasn't running?

If not then the Battery is possibly Kaputsky.

Start there anyway and work backwards.

Glad it was a "cheap to fix" part Mate....[8D]

Easy to spot on mine.

Haven't got a new relay yet, just gave to old one a tap with the pliers to free it up. New one is $110 from suzuki. I'm gunna try and find an aftermarket one tomorrow.
