Question : can i run pod style filters on cv carbs without getting flat spots and the like , have been told that they need the airbox to work properly , i realise jetting will be involved as i want more power anyhow but trying to get the aftermarket BMC air filter for my bike is becoming a hassle so i thought i might ditch the air box

thoughts please

Mechanic mate of mine reckons they're okay if they're jetted right. I'm putting pods on my lil 250, and he's going to do the carbs for me.

i imagine that that is all i have to do , as you see heaps of bikes with cv carbs with pods

It'll lean right out when you put pods on so get it jetted straight away...

i got pods and a dyno jet stage two kit in the triple works a treat with the straight thru system

so then why have i been told by so many people that the cv carbs need the air box to work , is it something to do with the stiller air , i am jetting it anyhow but if i can ditch the airbox and have pods it will be better , and i guess the induction sound of the twin will sound horn :D

now that we have established that pods are the go , which kind are the best ? foam or k&n filters ? velocity stacks any advantage ?

well it comes down to space

K&N are the go personally

Avoid stacks as they let all the shit into your motor

by stacks i meant stacks for the power side and a foam filter over them
