digital dashes

Was all set to buy an acewell but there have been a couple of posts suggesting they may not be as good as they seem. If that is the case what should I buy?

I personally like the analogue look, have you thought of getting mini clocks? BikeCraft stock them

It just occured to me, after months of admiring pics of your bike, I'm finally sitting next to it and I didn't have a proper look[B)]

This is what i've got and its speed only, my ears are the tacho but its not back lit so its not legal.

I'm also having a look around for a new dash because im borred of this one and i want to change the lights so might as well do everything one the front, i too was looking at the acewell but ill do some more looking before i pick one...

I do like the look of analogue but want the extra features of digital, lap timers and stuff so I can swap it over to the track bike to find out how slow I really am. Speaking of Bikecraft what about the motoscope brand they sell? Any good?

ive got an acewell and i think its great. i had one of them^ but never even road the bike with it as i wanted idiot lights and that didnt have rpm and had a push to light for 5 secs backlight...fucking dangerous if you ask me

the only thing thats gone wrong with my acewell is that i stuffed the magnetic speedo cable...but that was more of a user/bike problem than the speedo :P waiting for my new cable as we speak

I dont look at the speedo .. but it is a pain in the arse if you want to know the time, i do need a legal one tho when i get done ill be sorry

having said that ive riden without speedo for a few weeks and havent been done yes...but i still wanna be able so see the rpm. even though with my bike i can actually feel each individual rpm lol

your spot on mate. if you want something that is universal and able to be put on different bikes then the vr2 is the only way to go. www.veypor.com

i have the external buttons and the vir sensor. it stays on my track bike an the moment but will do double duty on the turbo bike.

Yes backlit, nice white blue actually.
Size is decent, think acewell though slightly shorter.
And yes price is perfect, i picked it up for $150 deleiver to my door from the US ebay seller and are available locally for about $180 + postage on AUS ebay as a dirt bike dash.

And they come with some great accessories.

Its fine. I don't really pay attetion to the tacho unless i'm really moving, though.
i set the lights up on when it was on a dyno, so they're set to the power delivery, green for boring, amber for max torque, and red for peak power. When i hit 10,000, they all flash together, telling me to change.

I've used one of those endurance speedos before, and I'd never use one again.

Why is everyone worried about tacho's anyway? Isn't that what rev limiters are for?

Gibbo, I've sold many of these Acewell units & have only had one come back with a genuine fault (which we happily replaced),operating issues are usually related to incorrect fitment.
Of course everyones perception of whats acceptable/easy to read, is going to differ, but I think they do a good job considering their range of features,packaging costraints & price.

Hey Ben, I think the only question was regarding their accuracy as a tacho, was mentioned they are a fair way off? If this is not the case I'd be more than happy to buy one off you, pretty keen on the small round one.

no mention of the Koso's in this thread?? i've just fitted this to mine last weekend after having no speedo for 3 years, it came up at the right price, was easy to install and plenty of features, also has a blue backlight which i'm gonna try and change to red (hopefully without blowing it up).
