View Full Version : Longer fork tubes
No no no no it's not chopper related I'm in need of some longer fork tubes to gain some extra ground clearance on Project CB. Do any of you esteemed gentlemen know a good (and safe) source (no I don't want to use slugs) ? 43mm diam.
Cheers Rob

I was chatting to zedsled about this - was toying with the idea of a set of modern upside downs from the likes of a motard - wouldn't be a cheap option tho.

You really need to go to a wrecker with a set of Verniers . I used to know the easy swaps to make up to 8" over USD forks . Conventionals are pretty easy. Using Trail Bike tubes to over size normal forks is pretty easy and if they are too long have the the new tubes shortened & a new plug thread cut. Trail bike tubes are usually very strong so while they have to cope with lighter bikes they are designed to take a pounding off road . On my GSXR Santee mono shock I have 7" over forks . Cost me $100 for a set of 41mm IT Yamaha tubes and it saved me about $700 by getting these instead of an imported set . Easy to do with most forks both normal & USD and I've done several dozen over the years. Here's a piccy of the GSXR , Hybrid & IT forks next to each other for comparison
