Axle nuts?

Do i need a special tool to undo the front axle nut of an 88 gsxr 750. Just doesnt seem to be enough nut hanging out to get a socket on properly.

Try borrowing another socket for someone mate, sometimes the walls of cheaper sets are thicker and so make for a wider diametre. I had the same problem once and then looked like a twat when a mate said "let me have a go" and used his own socket set.
