Andrea Pininfarina, head of a world-famous Italian car design group which has designed cars for Ferrari , Maserati, Volvo and Fiat, has been killed in a road accident.

Mr Pininfarina was riding a scooter which was hit by a car on the outskirts of Turin yesterday.

He was 51.

He was chief executive officer of the family firm Pininfarina, which has designed sports cars for numerous major automotive groups.

I rode a scooter from a bike shop recently coz the Kat was on blocks and I needed to go get some bits.... it was fucken terrifying... you open the throttle nothing happens... you hit the brakes... nothing happens.... how people ride the damn things is beyond me... bloody death traps!
