Zx14 v Busa

Fastest ZX14 in OZ so far is a 10.0? That should change pretty quickly as LAE and Wolf racing are developing Alex Miller's bike with lots of nice Muzzy bits.

From all reports the bike is capable of a high 9 if they get can keep the front wheel on the deck!

they seemed to go ok last weekend Shayne,but then again,so did that BMW 1200 running consistent low 10's.Still think the Hirebus had a bit more berries,but i guess it all comes down to the operator.the kwaka is no where near as ugly either.

I thought I saw one of those ZX14's do a 9.9 at the weekend? That's what made me jump up and go "Fuckin' no way!" I guess I must have imagined it then if the fastest in the country is 10.0

Must be 50KG of bloody ugly plastics on the ZX14. My $4000 GSXR 1370 = 10.77 ZX14 with pipe and PC = $20000 HAHAHAHA i got a fuckin bargin.

I'm surprised at the lack of hype about them, I remembered more when the Busa came out, it was like a new generation of bike. Any busa owners ridden a ZX14?

From the busa guys that have ridden the 14 , it seems flat down low but comes on like a 600 up top, wheras the busa has tonnes of midrange.
14 has better brakes and is supposed to be comfortable.
It should be better than the busa, Kawasaki have had 7 yrs to build a better bike. now its suzuki's turn to up the anti

Yeah you are right, you would expect it be able to shit all over a seven year old bike. Look how far the 1000cc sports bikes have come in seven years! Just goes to show how far ahead of it's time the busa was eh?

Latest[augustissue] Rapid Bikes mag [I bought it to look at NTB's missile] has a comparo dynograph, and a whole blurb on the ZX14 in it. There's not much between the standard 'busa and zx14 , but in the article they mention removing the zx's secondary butterflies[in the velocity stacks ,apparently], frees up 20hp in the mids,the timing retard on secondgear can be eliminated, and a set of pipes cleans out the dip at 4000rpm altogether. They reckon there's heaps more bottom/mids with these simple mods, enough to outhustle a 'busa down low.
The dynograph comparo's are small on the page,but the ZX14 has a stronger top end, the dyno says 170 at the rear wheel, and the 'bus had 158.
My two cents says the zx14 is a better looking bike than the 'busa, but the big 'zook hasn't been updated for a while,a new model would make the comparison even more interesting

Out of the crate it shouldnt beat an unrestricted '99 Busa.
The ZX has a 295 speed restictor same as later Busa's
and has less low down grunt.

All reviews from the US say with external bolt-ons,
Pipe, PC, Filter, remove butterfly's etc it will outrun
and out drag a Busa.

On the Street / Strip / Dyno the more extreme of the Busa's
still rule, only because they have 7 years R&D behind them meaning that the Turbo's, Clutch's, Nitrous, Pistons have all been refined.

As a stock bike been 7 or 8 years old go's against the Suzuki,
For Performance mod's, its in its favour.

So I remember when the first busas came out, there was all the hype about it hit the big 300.So they restricted it. Does anyone know what a de-restricted zx14 does?

ZX14 isd just as ugly is a Hirebus. a 335kp/h 180HP GSXR750 track bike would smoke em both on power to weight ratio.Power is useless if ya cant get traction

zx14.....well....i must say its about time ........they give up. seven years ago suzuki introduces the 1300 busa , and correct me if i'm wrong....seven years to go 2 tenths of a second in the 1/4 mile and basically the same top speed ......and people are raving over the zx14????? what the hell have kawasaki been doing for all this time ???
perfect timing i would say.....busa 14 in a few months. so i guess tissue sales will reach a high in 07' ....for all the crying zx14 owners that had thier hearts broken by the almighty suzuki .
