Is that the finish I should expect if I wanted a set of headers down in chrome[?]cause that finish is way better than I would have thought
miniman1
05-03-2009, 02:10 PM
Its not chrome, its been ceramic coated. Handles heat better, wont flake and will never discolour.
And its reasonably cheap to do also. And its available in several dif colours.
Gona get the engine covers done soon, hopefully b4 AFR.

Nice work mate, very tidy. Are they Samco radiator hoses? Did you buy the full kit and did the hoses all fit up OK?
miniman1
17-04-2009, 04:46 AM
Yeah mate,is a full Samco kit. Bought them on Ebay, they were all a perfect fit
Cheers Scott, that's good to know as I have been thinking about grabbing a kit.

Was thinking of doing it to mine. I've still got bog standard cans. Sick to death of it sounding like a mozzie when it's over 5000 rpm.
The Samco kit looks friggin sweet too. Doing well mate.

Lower the head light needs to be lower.
Mate slide it down further it'll make so much difference to the look i recon.
But as usual this is just my 2c and means nothing to your bulid.
Love the bike just lower the light!

Mate just had a quick look back over your thread and i noticed that you have your flat bars with the bends going down??
When i had flat bars on my blade i had the bend coming back towards me when sitting in the seat.
Have you done it for a reason????
Just looks a bit odd to me.
But as i said before just my 2c
miniman1
17-07-2009, 04:04 PM
yeah, they're not the bars im actually using.... just grabbed them from the wreckers for the mock-up. those ones hit the tank at full lock, thats y they're on like that....

Mate the bike is looking really good. I've got a TRX as my daily ride and have to admit I wasn't a Yamaha fan until I got it. Also I have a single seat race glass cowl that I'm thinking of selling. If you're interested I'll post up a photo for ya.
miniman1
17-07-2009, 05:38 PM
Thanx 4 the comments guys....
Rod: I was considerin single seat tail, but decided to keep the convenience of keepin d pillion seat. Thanx anyway.
rod185651
17-07-2009, 06:27 PM
Yeah, good call, a litlle bit of storage space under the pillion seat also. Thinking of changing the exhaust to single but I know these motors need to breath so I'm hesitant to change my silencers (I've got after market staintune exhaust on mine). You feel any difference in power or sound for that matter with yours?
miniman1
17-07-2009, 06:35 PM
It had Staintunes on when i got it, dont like twin pipes so i decided to get this done. My mates exhaust shop made it. standard down pipes into 2-1 collector - straight thru muffler. The sound is stupidly loud but i love it! Will make a baffle 4 it when i get round to it. And as soon as I've got some spare cash, ill be getting it tuned to suit the pipes.

I know just the place to tune it when you're ready, RC Tuning in Moorebank ph: 96029844, he's got a dyno and is good with modified bikes. He did my ZX9R after I took the air induction off and he also identified some other niggeling faults that I was unaware of. He's a little in your face but it's worth it, a few of us use him and all with good results.... so far any way

Any chance your mate's shop can do a new set of headers?
Mine look like shit, rusted a fair bit, so I don't think they will be any good for a ceramic coat.

18-07-2009, 01:05 AM
Well....... In theory they could, he fucken hates workin on bikes for some reason tho. I had to beg him for ages just to get him to do this. It's prob be cheaper/easier to just get some from the wreckers tho.....

How'd he fuck your mate's bikes, I could handle his lack of interpersonal skills, but if you know something about his mechanical skills share it mate.

My mate took his Duke 749 there, Rob assured him he knew wot he was doin and could retune the stock computer, it came out with LESS power, wouldn't idle, had flatspot etc.... He then had to take it 2 Frasers after Rob said "he couldnt get it any better than that". I know the guys he used to work with and have heard of other things he's done and taken no responsibility for.
But if he does well by u mate... Stick with where ur happy with going.
