hey are frame sliders the snug looking cage thingies I'v seen on a few fighters/stunt bikes, Like a steel frame with metal bars instead of plastic oggy knobs or the likes?
I'm keen to get something along the lines of what was on that camo'd fighter I saw a while back (I cant find the pic)

Are they a taboo item or what? Is it the equivalent of having training wheels on a girls bike? When I try to do ANYTHING that involves even 1% risk I end up making a mess of things so I'd like to do what I can to keep things in one peice and not cost me heaps if I have a tumble/faceplant. when eventually I get past the n00b rider stage.

Are they a custom made thing I'd be better off trying to do myself or are there people/places who have them off the shelf for whatever model bike you have. just after some info and ideas;)

I dont know if you can buy them but its just steel tube with a few mounting points ... if you can weld and by looking at the cars you've built and are building id say you can or have a mate who can, just make it you self... Pesh owns the camo bike maybe he can give you some tips...

cool, thanks for that, so I must be on the right track then.
Im trying to figure out where exactly on the zx9 would be the best place to mount the frame TO the frame. I'm a bit rusty on the welder, my late mate was the guru in that regard. but yeah, definately not out of reach for me. Bending the tube is probably going to be the trickiest part. I'll probably do a mock up with a heat gun and some pvc pipe, to get the angles right

there are loads of stunt shops online where you can buy ready made cages. not sure if you'll find one for a zx9, but no harm in looking. the design of them is pretty important as a shodily designed one can start cracking and bending things at the slightest drop.

If you want to actually take your bike to someone, there's also Shaun at Pommy Choopers on the Sunshine Coast (http://www.pommychoppers.com/) - He's a member here (pommychoppers) also and he'll be at the Story Bridge Show this weekend if you want to talk to him.
