I might get a Hi-Lux next.

Russ, if its any help...
I've run a 2001 Dual-Cab Mitsubishi Triton for the last 4 years.
Its had total neglect. Rarely serviced, used every day, always
stacked up with tools / generators / work gear. Just keeps going....
But........
The F#ck!ng turning circle is like turning an oil tanker, Every
"U" turn end up as a 3-point turn or a drive over the grass.
Half the folk don't belives me untill they try it.

iv been tossing up between a hilux and a triton. I have the old HZ styleside rotting away in the paddock which needs some work.
If money permitted I'd get one of those rodeo's with the VVTi V6's. serviced a few while working with a mobile mech, fuckin things can do burnouts from a rolling start .. woheeyy

Sorry Sharky thought your XF was fucked and needed replacement, not upgrading.

Fuck Yeah! I like your thinking! Tell me you've got one sitting in your garage Latheboy?!?! I've seen the turbo motor put into an EL, which is lighter than the BA/BF. Very quick car!

I had a modified XR6 Turbo. I say DO IT! They are fucking quick! Mine ran a 12.9sec quarter. I'm now looking at the new XR6 Turbo which has launch control....[:p]

Bit left of centre but have you considered a Subaru Brumby? I had one with an ej20t in it and it hammered.

Haha yeah the single cab is a bit ordinary but the circle on the dualcab is bloody rediculous! Ive had my triton for 2 1/2 years and just over 50,000kms so hasnt really stood the test of time yet. I bought it new and it was the cheapest ute I could get at the time. I still reckon its better than most of the others in the same market.

Thanks for all the ideas guys...

Found a '97 XH Falcon with recon motor (15k),factory gas conv, new exhaust, shocks, tyres & rad. Passed NSW blue slip last month (the 'longer than 3 months out of rego' one) so safety cert shouldn't be an issue.
Needs a bit of 'tidying' but the mechanics etc are solid.
Couple of dents, drivers seat torn, couple of lenses...
Got it for under $4000 Leaves me a grand to sort it.:D
Most xh's I've seen go for $6-7k
And got to travel a long way to get it though...all the way to Mitchelton...at least 5k's
