I put an 05 R1 shock in my 86 gixxer 750....You just need to narrow the bottom eye 3 millimeters ....1 1/2 mils on each side...Then it pretty much slides in..You even ues the stock hardware...Gives you alot more adjustment and replaces the 20+ yr old knackered one...I got mine off Evil B for $24 shipped....It's brand new

mines a 750 slingshot 1990 chassis, i wonder if it would go in that the same??
Is the spring rate and damping suited to that suspension geometry ??

Let us know how the final ride is mate as the point Moog made was one I also wondered about. ...and I must applaud you for an excellent photo mate, you can see exactly what you've done, clearly. Nice one.

Good Post...[8D]

I always like "what-fits-what" posts.

Well done.

None. Except for cutting off the old subframe;)

Nah not really, it wasn't that hard though. I just like the fact that most similar bits can be grafted on with enough patience. I love my grinder.

thought this a great idea for my 87 GSXR1100 with old shock. Got an 05 R1 shock of evilbay from the states, modified the bottom mount as described by mrgixxer - easy mod and everything fitted as stated. However, the only problem is if you have a standard subframe, the battery box no longer fits as the shock resovior is in the way[V]. Dont particully want to move the battery, so does anybody want to buy a as new 05 R1 shock modified as per the photos above for what i payed, $80???????:D
