I built an FJ1100 hardtail chop a few years ago and put a 360 tyre on the rear, that was converted to belt drive without too many drama's!!
So long as you can get some machining done it's easy enough, you are limited in belt length though.

Cheers

advantages of belt over chain? i know belts have lower noise but what are they like with friction/drag, i would assume there is less weight in a belt drive system too?

from what ive heard.. they done strech as much or at all??? reducing the need to change them.. unlike chains every 6-8 months

Getting the tensioner's sorted would be your biggest drama I think. I have pondered this myself in the past and figured out the width difference and gave up before I started. Most belts wouldn't clear the frame and assorted crap between your front sprocket and rear sprocket. Then you would have to try and get srockets sized....and it goes on and on and on[xx(]

Fuck chains and belts. Go the diesel with hydrostatic drive.

used to be a mob in the uk called spd or something like that, that did them for triumphs for the primary and also final drive

One little stone will fuck an expensive belt and stands drastically shorten the life of a very expensive belt :D

get a bmw single sided swinger (its hangs off the wrong side) then run the belt drive - no swing arm to interfere no worries.
