Thnaks for the feedback.

The mirrors are great, actually. Less vibration than stalk mirrors and I can see more. The view is well under my arms.

Yeh I was a bit dissapointed I missed out on the ride, especially after seeing the photos. I'm still keen to ride through winter though - I've got cold weather gear. :)

A pallet bike...:) I like the term! So have you Bear repaired the frame and the front end or have used new ones?[?][?][?]

Yeh another 2nd hand frame (they wrote off the frame the day of auction, b'stds) and whole front end. Radiator, headers. The rest was usable or adaptable.

Some nice job! How much have you paid for the pallet and the 2nd hand frame (if 'tis not a secret:)). Up in Russia they would repair the forks and the frame and would sell the bike as a new one[}:)]

$2000 for the wreck (was the 3rd bidder), approx $1000 for the frame.
The bike was vintage enough to have spares aplenty at the wreckers. I reckon if anyone else was going to do this sort of thing, then get something at least 3 or 4 years old so the wreckers have a good choice of spares and you'll also find lotsa spares on eBay.

So 'twas a fair deal! I'd wish I'd buy that cheap... and the rescued bike would cost us$10000 up here...[xx(] Some blokes sell here "track bikes" assembled entirely from parts bought at e-bay, i.e. w/o any papers... still $10000
