Oooooh very nice collection Toey.

How streetable is the turbo bike with the draw thru turbo set up ? I hear they are tricky to tune for road manners.

it's actually good with the mikuni hsr42 flatslide and fuel pump/regulator set-up. the only things i have problems with are the on boost wheel spin at speed :D:Dand ......these fuckers run hot...really hot.
cheers

Okay Toe Cutter, forgive my lack of experience with these things, but I thought that because you have the turbo on the suction side of the carb, that you didn't need a fuel pump and regulator to supply fuel like on the blow thru set ups ?

this is what happens without a pump/reg. the float bowl empties out too fast when you're on the boost and......bang.these bikes need to run a little rich on the street using low (10psi)boost and pump gas.
otherwise.....20psi or so and some C-16 and we have lift off:D

hmmmm piston broke

theres a small story behind that piston , gather'round the camp fire lads and lend me yer ears.....
t'was a beeeeeuuutiful summers day with the humidity and high 30's heat beatin' down. being the hard head
that i am , deside to take the beast out fer a tear. pre warm up to get the oil circulating and away we gooo. i notice that people are stopping on the side walks and others coming out onto thier balconies to see what is causing that infernal noise.[:0]
as you all probably know how a 3" dump pipe sounds without a baffle :D, it is music to the ears.
i make my way down the lane towards the highway and give a glance to the oil temp gauge and all is good......so i start to twist away in 2nd gear ......boost starts to hit around 6000 rpm......hangin' on
and .....yeahhhhh baby !!! tire breaks loose and it's smokin' like
a motherfugger.....bang it into 3rd......still screaching:D
and by this time i'm on the brakes because i come to the conclusion that i've run out of road.
now that i'm safely on the highway and in need of some petrol , i pull off at the nearest exit and voila! i'm in buisness. as i'm pulling into the station , i notice a young lad
and his tasty little tart gassing up an r6. he has this "what tha fuck is that" look on his face. i don't think he's ever seen or heard a big bore turbo bike in his short ass life.we exchang nod's
and he's off. i take care of my buisness and i'm on my way again.
back on the highway , i decide to try some roll ons in all gears to see how she reacts at diferant rpm settings.
with the gearing at 17/45 she's pretty tall and at 120k it's reving at around 2500rpm in top gear. as i'm humin' along ....who do i see
up ahead....the r6...hmmmmhahahaha. as a show of good faith i decide to knock it down into 2nd gear and giver'. funny thing...as i'm 20feet behind him and boost is hittin' hard , wheel smokin' , i pass him a little sideways and bangit into third while the tire is still smokin'. i am laughing my ass off and imagining what this guy and his hottie are thinking at this moment:D
he's just a spec in my mirrors now and i decide to take her down a notch . glancing down at the gauges again
.....holly shit....pushing 300 deg and that's all the gauge has.
bike is feeling raw now and sounds like a dead plug......yeah right.
get it onto the shoulder and shut her down. taking some air and enjoying the scenery, the r6 rolls by with the horn on and he's pointing to his head, making the "your fuckin' crazy" motions.
fuck him...probably a bed wetter. time has gone by and i decide to get her goin. she starts but sounds a tad ill. if its dead its dead, i'm noy walking home so i decide to head
on to a budies place a few clicks down the road.
back at the funny farm we tear the engine down
after a compression test verifies that we have had a melt down:(
all was soon forgotten and moods were back to chipper when the tall cold ones were flowin'.
so after a 2 week wait and an engine rebuild.... she's up and running again. just need to get the cam timming sorted out and a trip to the dyno for a a/f check and such.
cheers [8D]

Good to see she's back on the road Toe Cutter.
Nothing like a good story either, a bit of action, a bit of hot arse, a bit of tragedy and finally and uplifting end.

Brings a tear to the eye.
