View Full Version : Supercharger Mark's exhaust - opinions

While out on our "Lost World Tour" the other day Mark discovered that his pipe was scraping out on the road at speed when the bike was hard banked or landing from raised parts of the road so he realised that he'd need to do away with the pipes he had and design something with more clearance.

Being a true Streetfighter builder he wasn't happy with just having the pipe come out at normal angles and position, but at the same time wanted to keep a good pipe length for performance (so a shorty near the footpeg was out of the question) so he had a play and came up with something quite radical.

He's got it in place but is not sold on it. This kind of set up does not usual look much cop I reckon, but because he got the pipe following the lines of the large brake lever and also has it poking out at a mad angle, the thing looks real quite radical. We decided between us that the only down side is that it doesn't poke out straight, and that it is maybe a bit too long as it obstructs the view of the rear wheel from one side, but we thought that with the can shortened and angled out to give a truely radical look this is actaully quite cool and different. See what you ladies think as Mark asked to get your opinions so that's why I'm posting it:

Hmmmm...Id like it more if the can came out centered with the tail hey! But I love things being symmetrical! Otherwise I rekon its kinda cool! Definatly different!

its a bit fugly, maybe a high pipe like mine woulda been the go.The collector pipe is very long and those bends would be adding to the back pressure,so shortening it shouldn't loose much power.just my opinion anyway.

I reckon it the pipe before the muffler needs to be a bit longer and brought up to the angle of the top of the tail

Not a fan of exhausts that wrap around the swinger

Where the pipe exits from under the frame cut it off and that bike would be the fucken coolest.

hmmm yeah - I'm not sold on it either. I reckon if it split behind the number plate and came out either side would look pretty tight.

I am going to a loner here and say it looks f@#ck'n nuts!! I love it. No-one else has one and it looks kind of retro with the 'fibreglass' wrap. i love to get inside mark's head for a day. (That sounds a bit creepy but you know what I mean)

Top marks for originality (pardon the pun...), but I reckon whack the muffler on just after the first bend in the midpipe and have it kicked up to follow the lines of the brake lever and the tail.

Or go twin mufflers over the wheel to get the symmetry happening - kinda like the Britten V1000.

Im not a fan but its not my bike.. I cant think of any options at this time of the morning but one thing you should know .. You need 12 to 13 inch'c from the collector to the muffler to make power .. That looks a bit long to me, if you can try and get the pipe lenght right then mess around with the possition of the can you'd be better off.

The rest of the bike is so tidy and the pipe looks a bit of a mess. I reckon something simple and as Iceman said, following the lines of the ducktail.

That's Wronger's number. I'm sure he'd be pleased if you rang it. Wronger is the guy who wrapped my bike up in Caution tape at the AFR. The gear is all the Sloth Industries MX gear, that's what the lads I'm in there with do. You can buy the pink one if you want it Davo. It would match your eyes mate.

Greg, you're spot on mate, it would look and sound awesome, only downside is Mark is running on a shoestring. The whole bike build has only cost him around $3500 - that's including the bike purchase! he makes everything himself.

OK Ladies, thanks for the input, both + & - , I've spent a few hours today cutting and chopping, I hope you like it, I THINK I do.
I'll post some pics in the next couple of days as its pissing rain at the moment.

Sidewinder's no good for Supercharger, he likes to ride his bike fast around corners & it'd scraaaape like a motherfucker on righthanders.
Actually... maybe Si would be able to keep him up with him then ;)
STREETFIGHTERS are all about originality Mark, if it works for you - fuck everyone else.
I like the 2nd option personally.

off topic i love those piston clock surrounds mark .....i reckon my triumph cans gutted out wouldve look ok shortened either side of yer tail, the connecting pipes are only 35mm so it wouldve tucked right up under the subframe they re usually real cheap on 'tinternet too, or maybe a stock duke monster system shortened and gutted also

Hi Iven
Thanks for the comments, I'm curious about the 12-13" mesurment from the collector, and was under the impression that tuned length was taken from the exhaust valve to the end of the pipe.tell me more.
