95 ZR750. Plan is;
Flat drag bars, new paint and something similar to a Z-But tail, ZX6R forks (hopefully keep the spokes rims)
Better rear shocks (any ideas??)
Turbo (see pic below)
As far as i know, and i might be totally wrong, I could use the small internal waste gate turbo, run a blow through system (obviously wil need to run an electric fuel pump and fabricate a new airbox, cut and shut the headers and exhaust etc) but im not sure how much boost i could safely run on the stock engine, 2-4psi??

The only one i've seen done just swapped the motor and
all the loom / injectors / pump / sensors etc over from
a crashed Gpz750Turbo. Ran nice, like a factory bike.

Lorcan's had 211mph / 337kph out of his 810 Turbo !!!

You need to know what kinda oil pressure the motor runs, to know whether the turbo will survive, and mounting the turbo high fixes the need for a scavenge pump. The Geep turbo engine has an extra, small sump under the cases that the turbo drains into, and a scavenger pump built into the motor,[ in front of the counter shaft], that pumps oil back from it into the 'higher' sump.
Your motor probably has around 10.1 compression, you could get 10lbs of boost into that before loosing the piston tops, but you'd be crazy to try that for any length of time, one long squirt could melt them, if the mix is a bit lean.......
Fit an 810 turbo kit from wiseco, if you can find one......, then it's up to the turbo, your fuel injector size, and the mapping to determine how much HP you can play with. A adjustable boost regulator and blow off valve are also pre requisites.
The geep computer runs on steam........group fire only, you are better off using some later bikes injection setup, and messin with that. You can adapt a power commander to the GPZ computer, but no sequential injection, and the ignition is a completely separate system, not controlled by the comp.
The original injectors will only support 140 horses approx, so if you are looking for more, you'll need larger ones anyway, so you might as well get something off a litre bike, with high impedance injectors, that will talk to the power commander better.
Just my 10 cents...... great project Lewis,

Now im spinning out:( This is my first attemp at turbo any thing, so forgive my ignorance...
Benz,
I understand what you are saying with the oil presure, scavanger pump etc. Also i understand the need for a pressure reg and blow off valve but thats sort of where i lose it. You talk of injectors and computers, will i need to change to fuel inj for this project? Keeping in mind im not after huge hp, just a small increase while staying reliable (reasonably). Can i perform a blow through set up on the four carbies? Thanks heaps for the info i really appreciate any help with this as it is new territory for me

This has come up a few times.

Shayne seemed pretty clued up about it...

It seems more popular to use another bikes injection system
or to use misc parts to build a hybrid system.

One day I would like to have a Turbo bike too but from everything
I have seen and read over the last 20 years it would be injected.

Just my opinion.

Good idea ozkat, thankyou :)

Thanks for the link tony. A good mate Tim from TJ Conversions in orange here is helping me with this, and he basicly had the exact same theories as what is explained here. (He has done heaps of cars, 1 postie and 4 stroke lawn mower :D ) I am not going for huge boost, probably 5psi max so we are confident we can make it work. Im picking the bike up on monday, and taking it straight to his workshop tuesday to get stuck in. Hopefully we will have the turbo set up and running by next week and ill let you know how it progresses. Also Dave Baker is coming to help, he built a turbo - nitrous FZR 250, but did change to injection made up of R1, Ford tx3 and gsxr 1000 parts! Thanks again for the info

Another version of pressure referencing the carbs here http://www.turbo-bike.net/
a mate used this successfully on a 87 cbr600, absolutely correct first time . the diameters of the pitot/up pipe are critical .
