I'm having a bitch of a time finding odds and ends for my TRX. Most places only list the common Yamahoon's, YZF's, FZ's etc.

Does anyone know if any of the components are interchangable?

Everything is interchangable, just depends on the amount of mucking around you want to do.

Yeah there is that but if I can find pretty much 'bolt on' I'll be happier :)

What are you looking at changing? I've heard the yzf750 (mid 90s) rear ends are a pretty easy swap, its a 5.5 inch wheel and braced arm, so a 180 can be put on it.

At the moment just small things like rearsets, discs etc. No major surgery. Yet.

A fatter arse wouldn't hurt tho :)

Many parts are similar to YZF600 and 750.

Front wheel (and I think back wheel) is the same as YZF600 94/95 only, discs are the same, but calipers different (same as YZF600 Thundercat/YZF1000 Thunderace?/Early R6 + R1).
Some bits same as TDM850/900, but not many...

Did I hear someone say Custom!

So someone else here is building a TRX too??

Yay!! I'm not alone!!! What you got planned for it??

So far I've found that brake calipers and wheels are interchangable with YZF600/750 & R6(dependimg on the year), rotors are the same diameter, but wont bolt to the stock wheels(so i am told).

oh yeah, and some FZR parts are able to be bolted on too, just do some research on what will or wont work

Your not alone. My project is now 2 years on (I think?) R1 front end, custom rear tank etc.
Lots of things can be made to fit, cause the TRX was a bitza in the first place. Surprisingly, a lot of Ducati parts are the same.
A good resource is:

or something a bit more radical:

Have fun 8^)

Not looking at anything too drastic at the moment. Tidy up the bars/clocks etc and customize the ducktail a little bit and a few little bolt on bits.

Wouldn't mind this tho!!!

im not goin too crazy on mine either. So far have modded the tail to suit '00' R1 tail light, made up a fender eliminator, new chain guard and put on a digital dash. Plans are to change the bars and headlight unit, 2-1 headers with 'shorty' muffler, braided brake lines and R1/R6 calipers. I keep finding more things that I like and want to do to it tho.

I was thinking about cutting back the cans too but I don't want to cut the "tunes". I bought some bars from Gix, have a new tail on its way for modding and painting, digi dash, top yoke and eliminator is on the cards and custom tail light. Will change the dics over and maybe R1 forks down the track.

Got the twin headlight unit on at the moment and thats about it :)

Just going to custom odds and ends here and there and polish this and that, make it look pretty.

I'm a big bloody fan of the T-REX.

I only got mine for something to do as a project while I'm off work due to some dickhead not being able to look before changing lanes.

I've had mine for about 4 months so far and still havent even sat on it. But from everything I've heard from people who have one, they sound like a really good bike to ride.

Post up some pics if you can.

Its not too bad. There are a few little things here and there but its all pretty small and easy to fix up. Its just a matter of finding the time to get into it.

As far as after market 'Bolt on' bits for TRX's are concerned they are very thin on the ground.

They didnt sell well in Oz why i dont know as i think they are a good bike (Even owned one)
Any bling type components will have to be sourced from europe or the states.

I have an XJR and everything i need has had to come from overseas.
Anything else has to be modified

I bought an ex-demo one back in 96, when i was still on my P's. it earned me my first speeding fine. It became my first fighter, after i binned it -a couple of times...

I've also got a TRX I'm thinking about SFing.

Any suggestions on a front end swap?

Lucas

I'm starting to think of R1 forks down the track. At the moment I'm just changing bars, clocks etc.

Hey, Lucas,
Thats probably the most talked about swap and probably also the best! From what I've sen there can be some issues with the stem and it may be best to have a custom set of trees. More $$ up front but worth it in the end.

There's some excellent TRX fighters out there on the net! Have you had a good look around?

Lucas

I've had a pretty good bit of a browse and there's some bloody good food for thought. Alot of the available parts suppliers/manufacturers appear to be in the UK though. I'm trying to find a bellyban but there is nothing I like the look of so I think I might have to start hacking away at something.

There's a couple of nice TRX SF's on YOU TUBE at the moment. One in particular has had a Ducati Monster Subframe installed with a long single seat. Looks good!

What cams are you running?

Lucas
19-06-2008, 11:23 AM
all standard internals. I've only had it for a few months and I've only really just started playing with it

I've got a factory workshop manual if ya want a copy?

Lucas

I found one on a TRX site, downloaded it and printed it off, 300ish single sided pages, glad I have after hours access at work.

Thanks though.

I got them! Now for that Radial Master Cylinder!

Lucas
19-06-2008, 02:43 PM
Thats all good. I was thinking about them but I just bought bars, CF screen and I'm hoping to have some barend mirrors by tonight, I figured it was enough $$$ outta 1 pay!!

Remember to look for TDM too. I always forget about it.

Sounds like these bikes are coming along.

Mines at the exhaust shop atm getting 2-1 headers made up.
Just hoping it sounds as good(or better) as the staintunes did.
After that's sorted, next step is the bars, then paint, so on and so on..............

El Loco

Good stuff!
There was a TRX at my local wreckers that came in from out of state that had a 2-1 and a reverse cone megaphone, it sounded awsome. It had BREMBO brakes as well. Unfortunately it had been sold as a complete unit before I got to it. Buggar.

Lucas

Getting painted in a week or 3. Just need to strip it, prep it and drop it off to the bloke

miniman1

2-1 headers in mild steel with mandrel bends leading to the carbon Fibre shorty.

I like what you've done with the tail light. What are you going to do about the numberplate light tho?

Are you keeping the clip-ons or going MX bars?

Fuck I like TRX's, they look hot.

miniman1
16-07-2008, 11:56 PM
If you look closely you'll see the little LED number plate light,

I'll be ordering a new top clamp and changing the bars when i got some spare money.
