Home or pro work shop Gibbo?

Dick Smith do'em from $25 for a trickle charge unit. I've used one of theirs for about 10 years now no problems. It even has a trickle charge add-on that's never been a problem

Thanks Chalky, it,s actually going to be used at work but I don't think we will need one of the fancy ( read- expensive ) just something that works and can hook up to the bike as a trickle.

I got mine from k-mart, Came with wiring and plug to attach to the bikes battery. I leave that on the bike, and can just plug it in whenever i need to (got it when i surgery on my wrist, and couldn't ride the bike to charge it), instead of having to attach leads to the battery all the time.

Just watch out with the trickle chargers that they are well ventilated and placed in a location that won't burn your garage down if it overloads. Bout 2 years ago I bought an ELR off a workmate that the back end was torched on. The solar trickle charger was sitting on the gearsack rack and when it overloaded it set fire to the tail & seat. Back of the bike was a write off . A customers Harley was lost along with his garage when a Dick Smith Trickle charger overloaded. He put it in a cupboard with the wires going to the bike so that his kids won't mess with it. The fire investigation blamed the charger , the fact that the charger was in a poorly ventilated area and locked in a wooden cupboard.

I got a Battery Fighter (that Sickboy mentioned) about 2 years ago (supercheap I think) and it's on all the time. I plug the bike in everytime I get back due to the remote ignition (this is soon to stop though since the isolation mod), but anyway, it's in the wall and on for almost a solid 2 years and even in the middle of QLD summer it has been fine. Wouldn't risk a realy cheap one for the exact reason Chop mentioned.

Just discovered it actually the junior model!

The best part about it is that the cable split half way so I cut off the crocs and added the loops so it is permanently attached to the terminals and you just unplug it and tuck the cables away when you head out then pull them back out an reconnect when you return. No taking the seat off for this cat!

$24 from Dick Smith?? : http://www.dse.com.au/cgi-bin/dse.filereader?4754a1f60bb223f22740c0a87f9c0751+EN/catalogs/CTG0000148

They still hafta have a battery Dave (unless they're using a magneto), but PROPER RACE BIKES don't have starter motors or alternators. ;)

Wow ,the search engine actually works. Anyhow..6 years later i'm in need of a trickle charger. Seems these things have come along way since then. Just want to know whats the difference in amp supply with these things. Some seem very low compared to others on ebay. There is some random guy called "Mono Racing" selling what seems to be a high class unit on ebay, has anyone dealt with this fella before ? Cheers in advance .
