i been askin this question for years, but mainly to myself.Theres a company in western Sydney that rebuild old twin shocks that are no longer avaliable by making there own parts and replacing sealed units with repairable fittings.cant remember their name but its sumthin like re-shock or re-strut or sumthin else even. They were in the Penrith area a few years ago.
the 1100 dampner can be dismantlled but no oem parts are made to reco it.

Give Suspensions R Us in Cranny a bell Kev, they claim to be able to rebuild non rebuildable stuff.

Try also Promecha.

They rebuilt the non-rebuildable shock in my ZZR, worked a treat!

RAD shockies in BNE might also do them if you are stuck.

I thought Kev was on about steering dampers? If so, the stock one is a throw away item, not worth trying to rebuild. As Alfie said, bin it and go Sprint. Stu has them.

isnt a steering dampener a shock absorber? Pro Honda has a few on special for $250 at the moment, not sure on the brand but they are adjustable setting items.Fukin rip off for a pissy little strut thats equivalant to the thing that holds the boot up on a dodgy old ford laser hatch back.I prefer to just over tighten my steering head bearings for the same effect.lol.

Dunno if this is any help but I seem to remember a tutorial on the Australian Hayabusa Forums on how to do this yourself (all be it with a busa one). Might be worth checking out.

Thanks guys. Might give Promecha and Suspensions R Us a call. Will see how I go. I have a funny feeling it will cost around the same to get a new one. Reckon you might be right Gix.
B.T.W davo,where is pro honda?
Might just rip a tail gate strut off my Landcruiser;)[xx(]
