The building has swip card entry and 5 cameras, and one camera shows the guy riding out (lights on) wearing a helmet.

The bike was 2 floors below ground level,
parked in a corner with a silver bike cover on.

It was a planned hit.

Sorry to hear that mate. Odds are that it has been nicked for parts resale or to do up another GSX14 . This is were the rather specialised parts that are on it come into play. There aren't many sets of wheels like that in the country for example so if enough people keep an eye out at bike shows , on ride days , runs , ebay etc it increases the chances of recovery. If by some chance someone does spot these parts just descretely copy details of the bike they are on(they might be legit afterall) and pass these onto the police. If someone has innocently bought parts that are off the bike you get those bits back and get a lead on the thieves without having bashed the wrong bloke. We got a clubmates stolen bike back last year that way. Someone on holiday in South Australia spotted the tank off the bike at a swapmeet there , pretended to be a buyer , got the sellers details & number then got the cops. Most of the bike was subsequently recovered , the thieves got caught(6 months after the bike was pinched)and when they get out fun times are to be had........

hey des, thats really shit news. a mate of mine got a whole bunch of new parts for his car and the car was nicked only a day or two after they all went on. retrace the courier from when the wheels left bens workshop or wherever they came from (as with any other recent purchases) and see if theres a link there. the guys whose car it was found the theif somewhere along the delivery line if i recall.

The reality is that you want them to think they can sell the parts in the open either on a forum or on ebay. If they think they can get away with selling in the open they might just try and in the open they can be backtracked . If they think they can't unload the parts then the chances of undamaged recovery is reduced dramatically . One scam these types use is to list on USA , UK or German Ebay and limiting the area they will post to. So that way it won't show up on searches run through Australian Ebay and the chances of being sprung are reduced . You often see parts advertised on Australian Ebay that have a US or UK postal address attached to them and in some cases these are off bikes stolen there .

You only get one chance to catch these types so lets remember that if they get wind that someone is onto them they are likely to dump their loot in the nearest river . So , if you do see something suspect , take details , check with Suxukifreak to get an ID on either the bike or parts and then get the police involved. Walking up to someone and making an alegation/belting them will make them go to ground & thats the last thing thats needed. In the open they can get caught . If they get spooked and go to ground there is little chance to catch them & less chance to get the bike back. So if you do spot something think before you act.

Remember , the primary goal is to recover the bike . Anything else is secondary.
