I'm not a big fan of this little fairing so it probably won't stay there. It'll do for now though.

Thanks Nath, gives you a good idea of how your blade might look with stripes too.
I originally wanted the stripe off to one side (like a foolly sick monaro mate)but because of the shape of the rear of the tank and the ducktail, we decided that down the middle is the go.

Looks a bit retro I reckon.

Hey Rocket, excellent work, looks fuggen classy:)
To my eyes that fairing is a perfect match to the other curves on the bodywork, that front shot says it all.
My only comment is you could maybe highlight the wheels a bit with a pinstripe on the edge or somethin.....just my two cents!

Rocket
31-07-2006, 02:22 PM
Benz, you're a genius on the pin stripes for the wheels :D
But i already thought of that [^]
The reason i didn't go ahead with the pin striping is because the wheel has castings on one side so the stripe would be broken in three places.

I'll see what happens with the fairing, it may grow on me.

Rocket, how much was the paintwork, if you dont mind me asking. I am getting a relo to do mine but i am still deciding as he is a serial procrastinator and i am having visions of him saying to me in six months time "yeah i will be getting to that soon, wont be long". Just a ballpark would be great.

13 fukin hundred dollars.hope there's at least 7 coats of clear on there mate.thats almost the same tail unit as Mad Mundy's,he used the standard subframe and ended up with that gap at the front too.

Davo I thought that was a reasonable price for the amount work in it. There's blue pearl and plenty of clear as I didn't want to feel a raised edge where the clear goes over the painted stripes.

Well done if you can get good quality work done for 1/2 an hour of your own time. I wish I had that priveledge.

I'm not sure what i'm going to do about that gap but I have to mount up a fuel pump and regulator and fit an airbox in there somewhere so i will wait till I get those mounted in there before I worry about what to do with the gap.
Or I could just say fuck it and leave it.

Fuck it and leave it mate. Only fighter addicts on here would spot it.

Rocket, I reckon thats a fair price mate. A job like that could take could easy take 20 or more hours depending on the condition of the parts. Lots of preparation and masking, not to mention material costs. I think Davo is a lucky man to get a paint job for a half hours work, maybe there was no window repair, you didn't spend some time down on your knees did you Davo[:0]?

aaaahhhh.....black is sooooo nice. makes the silver frame jump out at you
don't it. what about the power plant?

Rocket

Thanks Toe Cutter.
The motor has 81mm WISECO Hayabusa pistons to give me 1216 and lower compression than stock.
I have an intercooled blow thru turbo kit leaving (all fingers and toes crossed) the UK today.
Just waiting on a clutch upgrade kit and cometic head gasket and the builder can finish off the engine.
Then I can put it in the frame and start hanging turbo bits off it.

I'm expecting it to go pretty good.
