G'day Fellas

have got a set of 1991 gsxr 750 38mm carbs (us spec) that I'm looking to cleanup and fit to a 1100 slabbie motor - motor's basically stock with 4 into 1 on it and K&N dual filters (1 filter covers 2 carbs)

have read some of the posts on carb kits after searching thru here but after some help/opinions as not really clear to me

as I understand it there are basically two choices - dynojet or factorypro

question is does anyone have any recommendations on the pro or cons on either and if you've done a similar swap, ideas on carb base settings (main/pilot jet sizes etc) - saw dynojet do kits in 3 different stages and as my setup is pretty much stock maybe only need to be looking at stage 1 or possibly 2?

would it be worth putting on a ignition advancer or modifying the stock one as seen/read 4-5 deg advance won't hurt em too much

thanks in advance fellas

First you'll need the inlet manifolds for the 38's. As for kits I prefer to use standard(Mikuni)needles and jets. Had a few dramas with after market stuff.
Put 32.5 pilot jets and start at 150 mains. Might be a good idea to get new 1100 needles and emulsion tubes.

I've done the same thing. 135 mains, and i think the needles from a 96(ish)model 750. I originally had 147.5 mains in it(out of the original 34mm carbs) and it was a fucking animal at about 9000 rpm, but a P.O.S. at anything less. It was also fouling plugs in 30 mins of street riding. I took it to harley at RB racing who figured out the jetting.
I've got a factory pro kit for it if you're interested.

ok fellas

the oldies decided to 'sponsor' me a factory pro kit to upgrade the 38mm carbs to suit the 1100 - god bless 'em :D

is it a good idea to change the emulsion tubes at the same time or can I just fit the kit with the current ones?

if changing the tubes is recommended, any suggestion on preferred suppliers at all and ideas on cost?

Cheers

check the hole were the needle goes through for wear.
if it's not round, replace them with new GSXR ones or factory pro ones from the states $96US plus post.
