View Full Version : Very humbling

Here are some shots of my very good friend Akira's bike. I originally met him in Las Vegas and again in Japan where I got to see his bike when it was all black. Before he built it I was very humbled by the fact that he contacted me to ask if I minded if he built a similar style bike. I was again very humbled when he sent me these photos from the recent Tokyo Motorcycle Show. Akira is extremely well know in Japan as a top designer of graphics both in the motorcycle and drift scene. His work speaks for itself and I look forward to spending time with him again. Yeah, but it was all black when he first did it. He's just added on the stickers, crash cage, tyres etc because they're all things his company sells.

Here's us putting the grips on at the event I was over there for

What are those handlebars off/from? They look like a good bend and not too wide.

How was the bike received in Japan? Much interest? Are the Japs big on litre sports bikes?
I'll show you my badge when I find it... :D

Not sure, but I've just emailed him to find out. He actually had it almost finished when I was over there (pic above) in 2006 for the bike event. The magazines were taking plenty of shots of it. They got some shots on me and Akira standing in front of it together, I'm pretty sure they went into Mr Bike Magazine.

A Japanese McLovin would be cool, but I reckon they'd call it McRovin
