Well done Si.

I expect there will be a few times to be posted after the meeting on the 5th Aug and again after Straighliners.

Sure aBUSA, Papa Smurf and a few others have times they could post up ? Has NTB got a Dyno sheet for his Monster ?

Sat in the garage, cleaning rims and fitting new rego sticker,
Phone go's "Its Shane, we're nearly at Willow Bank, You coming?"
Talk about short notice Mate !!

Grab a lid and Jump on the 04. Bog stock except for Yoshi cans
and a TRE. Blast up to the strip.

Quick run through scrutineering and buy a 1 day licence and im in the que.

Pull a couple of low 11's to find out what the strips like,
(Grippy as Hell!) and find out where the return road exit is,
and generaly get into the swing of things.

Bit of coaching from Rick "You wont wheelspin tonight, more rev's more clutch and dont flip it!"

I then pulled an...
10.676,
10.648,
10.785,
10.561,

http://img132.imageshack.us/img132/5904/tt1redkx2.jpg
http://img132.imageshack.us/img132/708/tt2redlw2.jpg

Cant run faster than a 10.5 at this meet so thats what I aimed for when the racing started.

Whoops. Major balls up.. Ha ha,
Pulled a Red Light, my only one of the night,
AND broke out of my bracket with a 10.403.

http://img132.imageshack.us/img132/1824/tt3redaz1.jpg

Never mind. Still came home happy.
First time near a strip in years and pulled a genuine 10.4
on a near stock bike.

Tony.J.

EDIT: I have some of Shane's times here too, but not all,
so i'll let him post his. He'll be quicker when he stops
sticking the front in the bloody air ;)

http://www.streetfighters.com.au/forum/upload/36698607962766.jpg Im very happy with the ET. Lots lower to come tho :D What im more impressed with is the MPH, best was 132 mph. Loads of potential there. Just gotta keep that front wheel on the ground [xx(] Mid track power wheelies are fun, not the quickest way down the strip tho. Congrats to Tony for the 10.4 well done mate. And a big thanks to Rick (Papa Smurf) for helping me sort out my start. I had a bloody great day. 11 runs for $45 seems like bloody good value to me. :D

Tony Nitrous
29-07-2006, 10:32 PM
Yeah, good fun, 9 runs for me.
Just looked at my tickets,
All but 1 were in the low 130's,
Couple of 135's and a best speed of 136.16

Think I got quicker when I stopped bouncing it off
the rev limiter in 2nd :D

Tony how did you break out if your reaction time was 0.222,seems like ya's both have potential to knock half a second off at least

I think the delay between the bottom Yellow and the Green for go is 0.400 seconds. This would make a 0.4 a perfect reaction, less would be a Jumped start. When I jumped the green light and got a FOUL / RED it said i'd gone a 0.222

They gave a prize for the first 0.400 start in the raceing.

Shane / Papa is that right ?

I think I might get a few 10th's quicker with practice but current
streetbike rules say a 10.500 cut off. After that your a racebike.
Think this is due to be lowered soon.

My bike was in 100% road trim. Ready run a 3 or 400k ride tommorrow.

Tony, you are correct on all points.
The delay between last yellow & green is .400 sec. any less is a red light foul,
i should know i did in the first round of racing at the winternationals with a 3.38:(:(
The 10.5 rule is being lowered in september to 9.99 to accomodate late model sports bikes
that can run these numbers straight out of the crate.
Breaking out is a different story again, in modified bike we run "dial your own" handicap racing.
This means that you nominate how quick you think you might go & that time becomes your "dial in time"
EG.1. dial in at 10.50 & run 10.06 (hehe i did that too)& you break out by nearly 1/2 a second handing your opponent the win.
EG.2. you dial in at 10.50, your opponent dials in at 11.00,
your opponent gets 1/2 a sec. headstart & the race is on,
now providing no one redlights it's first accross the line wins as long as no one breaks out.
I personally like to chase & as my bike is getting quicker all the time i'm doing it more often these days:)
Did i leave anything out? hope this helps.
Rick

Had a play at Heathcote today, turbo busa std wheelbase, lowered 1"all round, bloody cold , alternating between 2&3 gear burnouts,12 o'clocking it or just bogging & stalling on the line had 1 good run which was a PB on this bike , don't know how the scan will come out as the track printer must have been low on ink but

31-07-2006, 10:09 AM
Ok, new question. Am I running red lit starts on this table or not. Shayne's (ABUSA) turned out to be a red light start and so did Tony's best - so what's the go? Also, interesting looking at the chart as Oz's bike has some serious mid range speed when you see how the times are compared to Turbokat.

TurboKat
31-07-2006, 12:14 PM
Gix, as far as I know, red lights are not related to E.T.s coz the timing starts when you trip the staging beams off.
If you fall asleep at the lights & your R.T. is 1.00 sec, it doesn't make your E.T. 1 sec slower & I'm pretty sure it's the same if you leave early.
I'm sure someone will correct me if I've got it wrong.

Booster
31-07-2006, 01:10 PM
Fairly sure your right there, Turbokat . only counts as a disadvantage during dial in type competition, at that point you would have given your opponent a 1 sec headstart.

Gix11
31-07-2006, 01:35 PM
Yea, Abusa confirmed that it's only competition that would be a problem. The timing starts from when you break the beam regardless. I'm including Red light starts by listing them as RL in the recation time. I'm also adding a track time table on request of Deano - I think he fancies his chances at Winton. Let's just hope their aren't too many tracks as this list could get pretty long!

Rocket
31-07-2006, 02:53 PM
I agree Gix, red lights, break outs and losses don't matter for this board.
It's the times you are cutting that count here and none of the above things affect them.

Booster, what HP are you making on the busa?

Booster
31-07-2006, 05:19 PM
Not realy sure at the moment, at one time it was decompressed and intercooled did 300hp at 15psi .But now its stock comp and low boost tuned with a wideband .maybe 250??, don't care all that much for numbers, it has all it needs for the std wheelbase.

Some new numbers for the ASF Braggin' Board.
Deano, Shano & myself took our trackbikes to Megacycle Engineering's Dyno in Keysborough today for some air/fuel & sorting runs before the first official ASF trackday at Winton this Friday.
My '98 ZX9 went 146.8 HP & after going up a few main jet sizes, ran a best of 149.6 HP @ 12,000 (actually 11,987) RPM.
Deano's '94 GSXR 750 ran a couple of mid 90s before a couple of rejetting sessions made for a best run of 97.5 HP @ 185 km/h - a bit lower than we were expecting, but enough to get into trouble.
Shano's '90 ZXR 750 gave us some trouble, the carbs are race spec on a now standard engine & despite having a plethora of different jets to throw at it, & the fact that the whole bike is a bit of an unknown, it ran from 68 HP to a best of 92 HP @ about 10,500 revs. 3 or 4 adjustment sessions (needle height, float level, mainjets) only served to move the power & Lambda readings around in the rev range & the 92 HP peak was at the expense of a LOT of bottom end & midrange which would've made it like a light switch to ride so it's back to the drawing board on that one - starting with a set of stock carbies & a valve clearance check/adjustment. We'll get it sorted by Friday though, no problem.
Sorry Gix, I don't have a scanner & couldn't get a clear pic with my shitty 1 MP camera so can't post the sheets up but Dean & Shane will verify the accuracy of the numbers.

i found it hard on the buell to get the power on from the lights as it was just wheeling in first & second the bike is std apart from pipe & filter/ecu, its 92 rwhp

Hey Gix , can u post mine for me. These where taken a few years ago, bikes been off the road since. It was at the first bikefest at the creek.

The others are racing time sheets at the creek and Oran pk Gp circuit. Bike was a 98 R1, with as much bullshit parts i could afford at the time......it wasn't many....hahhaha

Bike was a Busa running road tyres, ride height jacked up 25mm, 204BHP Naturally aspirated, extended 6" (i went to a track day the same day with the same set up in between dragracing, i would jump over next door and do a few laps...Averaging 1:47-48) wat more could u want in a day....hehehehe. Did get a bit tiring though.

Cheers

Ok Si, how about my times 'n' dyno... They might not be fantastic like the other bragging times that are displayed, but I'm proud of what I did and I did have a lot of fun, I've taken a tired old bike and tired old fat rider (.... hmmm combined bike/rider age of 76.... ) to a place where I can only improve, having these displayed will give me extra incentive!!!

Cheers
Reg.

Try this papa smurf... give me around 2 odd seconds start, then run me down... what should happen is that because of my "large" bulk (a.k.a. fat bastard)... there will be a vacuum behind me... that should be enough to pull you through the timing section just that little bit quicker...;););) Then again, you might crack it in the cooler months.
Cheers
Reg.

Sorry for the delay Brian, you're added mate.

Rick, do you have the rest of the run for me to add (1/4 time etc) as opposed to just the top speed?
