Sorry about the stuff up with my first post,i somehow posted it twice.Anyway,i started to pull my bike to bits and found that my head stem is cracked, right at the bottom where the dash stay bolts on,the crack goes all the wat through...Anyone had this problem before?Seeing this is aluminium, how do i close the gap so i can weld it?....Oh by the way my bike is a YZF1000R (Thunderace)....

where bouts are you ? I know somewhere in south bris that does this kind of work all day.
I took my 250 there to get it all straightened up and they welded my gauge bracket/bolty majig thingo back on. easy as.

If one was to actually cut those brackets off neatly, I'm assuming that would be classed as frame altering/modifying in an insurance/rego sense?

I've like to cut mine off because they are useless for my setup and probably dangerous by potentially hooking up cables.

looks like the steering stop on the forks has ripped it off
not good mate

i would seriously question the roundness of the steering bearing surface after that [xx(]

does the crack follow the outer circle or does it head in towards the centre??
