Easy one this, Do Aussie bikes have to have the clutch pulled in to start regardless of wether or not they are in gear ????
I have successfully grafted the FJ ignition wiring onto theXJR loom and got it running......must have done something right....but as for the above...

Some bkes in the 80's were like that, and some was only in gear. Can't remember which ones though.

My 00 ZX9 doesn't need to. I think it depends on the bike - my bro in law's GS Beemer won't run at all if the side stand is down - regardless of clutch in or not. But Beemers are stupid.

you will find out of the big jap 4 suzukis and yammies do, where as honda and kwak dont, triumphs do, ducs vary between models, hyosung do (most of em run suzuki electrics anyway) and harleys wont start weather you do or you dont (you need to sacrifice a live chicken to get em going)

Thanks fellas. Just wanted to be sure I hadn't missed something on the loom. I only have a UK spec wiring diagram so its been fun.......

Only some models - just cut the wires and join them up - no more messing around

Some bikes you can't bypass it without neg side effects

On the GSXR's the clutch switch can't be wired closed or the rev limit comes in early and the ignition map is retarded.
Also , the ECU knows when the clutch is in and the starter is used and adds more fuel to help it fire.

You can cut the wire from the starter relay and earth it but it's harder to start and you can engage the starter while the engine is running by accident.
One way around that is to earth it through the netral switch.
