Do any of you know where I can get some mirrors for a 1989 GSXR 1100 which don't give me a a preview of armageddon when I go faster than 60km per hour?

The original mirrors where rubber mounted and were great. Trouble is a single replacement is expensive ++. Have got some cheap aftermarket ones but the rubber mounts are different shaped. Tried some rubber mounting from clark rubber but not really very useful. Nothing on ebay.

The bolts are 50mm apart.

THanks!

My sholder never gets any vibrations when I look over it.

I have bar end mirrors but they are only for legal reasons...always look over shoulder.....
so it doesn't matter....(that my homemade bar ends don't vibrate [^])

That could be the problem

Head not mirror

I thought $300 for a single mirror was a bit rough though. Use the head all the time but find mirrors useful for seeing if anything is coming behind at speed.

It always goes mirror - head - turn...
Unless your doing wheelies - then its mirror - is that a blurry cop car??? - pop it up :D

Hey Slug,
what do you intend doing to the gixxer? If you intend stripping all the plastic of her and then I would say go with the bar end mirrors, but if you intend keeping the fairing bar end mirrors will look like shit(my personal opinion only). http://ausfr.com.au/cart/shopdisplayproducts.asp?Search=Yes&sppp=20 Try here for a start the link includes all the mirrors that everyone has been talking about. On another note welcome mate, don't be scared about what the cops are going to do if they pull you over, build your bike as an extension of your personality and everything else will look after it self.

Was intending on keeping the fairings on til I either drop the bike (touch wood- haven't dropped one since learning 8 years ago- the mirror was snapped by a friend who was baby sitting the bike- believe me or not!) or save the funds to fighter it.

I looked at the bar end mirrors but like you say- unless it's a cafe racer or streetfighter they look a bit out of place. The other concern is I changed the stock bar ends and got a lot more vibration through the handle bars as they were not weighted. Changed back to the originals as they were much better for touring. I guess bar mirrors would have more weight so wouldn't be such an issue.

Incidentally, anyone know somebody who chromes in Perth- barends and levers have seen better days...

Are these ones weighted? Bought similar ones before and got a lot more vibrations through the bars as they were too light. Darwin to Alice and I noticed the difference.

This is what the site says. Hope this answers your question? I've got the bar end mirrors myself, and I have no problems.

CNC machined billet aluminium and stainless steel bar end weights.

These dedicated motorcycle handlebar weights are direct replacements for the original items.

Available in 7 colours: black, blue, gold, titanium look, purple, red and silver for aluminium plus a stainless steel version.

Each set comes with stainless steel fasteners to compliment them where required.

Please be aware that the aluminium bar end weights are lighter than the original and therefore may cause handlebar vibration. If this is a concern then we would suggest purchasing the stainless steel equivalent instead.

Photo is for advertising purposes only - each bar end is machined to match your bike individually. See availability list.

Do not confuse these items with any other you may find - as always from AuSFR absolute top quality is assured – you WILL NOT find any better than these products.

Price per pair.
