SR's have the same/or very similar motor to the ol XT500...they are a very tuff and go well when worked..always a bitch to start, especially when modified...theres an endless list of parts available.
The late model ones had cdi ingntion..they were better but some suffered black box failure.
All in all the best single cylinder 500 around..Yamaha should still be makin em,

They have a mojor following round abouts but the money people think they are worth with a couple of bolt on's is bullshit.

One of the biggest problems on the market is with people who buy bikes from the above mentioned Duche ex mancina for 20+ (no bullshit) onle to realise that you couldnt unload them for love nor money on the common money.
Personally they arnt anything special and are just the fad bike of the moment in the right circles.
But if its going cheap why not. I buy anything if the price is right.

They do suffer from normal single engine problems... Smoky motors and naff gearboxes if not treated properly.
The one for me would be the SRX 600 i think it was... Those in oz are rare.

In the case of the one i posted here the bikes retail here wasnt more than 8 new. Now to try and tell me a grey import with bolt on stuff is worth 13 is full of shit or just doesnt understand he been ripped off.

But hey a sucker is born every minute

Mate I had one like the flat tracker. (my first fighter) in 1999. Had it with an all steel pipe with a hotdog fitted and MX bars. Boy she was a wheelie monster. Really was an awesome toy to play with. Had problems getting Oil cooler seals.

There have been a heap of 250's up here in Darwin thought my daughter could have one for her first fighter. Would the tail section fit?

$2,500 for an SR500 hahahahahahah

I got a bridge for sale mate! you've probably seen it before, located in Sydney, and it's loads more fucking popular than an old yammie commuter.

Ah,the Spit Bridge...ask the NSW govt how much!
Won't be much seeing as it's in Iemmas too hard basket.

Back on topic...a guy I know (with a coupla H2s) has one of those 600SRX jobbies, looks ace, sounds great and wheelies like a bastard.I'd like it meself.

The best thing about these big old singles is watching new owners start them. I saw my mate knee himself in the face before giving himself the big single owners brand, 4inch scar up the inside of his right ankle. I'd own one if I could find one cheap, lots of fun
