Hey its coming on slowly. (Been tatting around with the Busa detail shit, ya know?)

But the Kwak is coming on nicely.
New Nissin discs, new Calipers cost less than an OE Kawi service kit.
Wheels satin black powder coated and Avon Storms fitted.
All the placky bits are off ready to go with the tank for painting.... black. Gonna paint the swingarm messen.... black.
Going to paint the engine black apart from the shiney bits.
So I guess you could say its gonna be black ? [:p]

Sourced a 4-2-1 Ti and stainless exhaust an can for less than £450 !

Just bought the 8 NGKs it takes !!!!

Anyway eres some photos :D

Errrrrrr.... work in progress lads..... work in progress ;):D

All the bodyworks off cept the tank ready for dropping off at the painters:
http://www.illusionracepaint.co.uk/id2.html

Struggled to find a rear disc, OE Kwaka part was legal extortion !!
So bought an EBC rear disc arriving later today.

As the weather is heading back to more monsoon like conditions for the next few days, garage time is in order ! :)

All the bodyworks down the painters as of yesterday.
Colour ? You`ll have to wait and see :D

Started removing the spark plugs, always a good start to find two are only finger tight. Factory technicians hey ? [}:)]

Going to order the 4-2-1 exhaust next week and an Earls oil cooler kit.
Still the clutch to sort out.... when I release the clutch lever, the drive is slow to engage, so it may just need a seal/cylinder kit for the clutch master and/or slave?

The rear mudguard is going away..... got to get my head round what the ass end is going to be like with new indies too.

Oh and the chrome bars are going.... any ideas for a good set of bars ? :D

Now that I've logged in... and using IE, I find that I can upload photos now, I usually use Opera, but I can't use this upload feature with it...

I looked at the post by EVAD and I saw the "X" pipes (I think I'll get one for my Kat...) and I thought of the SFC 750 Laverda, there was a couple of options of pipes you could have, a 2 into 1 and a 2 into 2, the 2 into 2 has a crossover pipe on it, like an "X", although not quite the same.... I do know that the 2 into one is an un-baffled megaphone and is legal on the 750 I used to have.... it does sound WICKED too!!

Kin love those !!!!! [:p][:p][:p][:p] How loud ? ? Bleeding ears loud ?

The zorst I`m looking at is the Predator 4 into 2 into 1.
Sort of "modern" ? They reckon you do`nt need to rejet.... hhmmmm..... I`m not sure on that old chestnut, heard it many times before :D

Yeah I love the retro stuff, its just as challenging to ride fast as the modern fast stuff. I had an 1981 GPZ1100 efi with mono shock in 2002 that I spent hundreds of hours minting up, even sorted out the lecky fuel injection to work properly. Nice ride fairly steady till you hit 7000 rpm then all hell broke loose !!!! 145 top end was entertaining ! [:0]

The Zeph11 is a peach, I bought it to sell on but just jelled with it.
Very classic retro style bike and as you say reminiscent of the late 70s/ early 80s Kwak muscle bikes. I started riding on the road in 1976, so all the old classic stuff is heaven to me.

Here it is in its unmollested state:

Ordered the 4-2-1 exhausts sytem this afternoon.

Looking at removing the rear shocks means the zorsts got to come off anyway, so theres no way its going back together without leaking.
The stock zorts is so corroded it`ll never go back on right.

I think a 4 into 1 will look proper ;)

The supplier never mentioned the headers are 38mm compared to the 42mm OE.
So got to weld on some bigger collars for the clamps.

Pain in the......, but getting on with it :)

I like the Zephyr's.

Owned one for a while.

Still think the 750 looked better even if it didn't go.
The 550 and 11 had very boxy sharp line where the frame
rails meet. The 750 had nice swoopy cradle like the Z9's
and Z650's.

Always thought the 750 would make a great bike with modern
suspension and a Gix750 or Z750-turbo motor, not a monster
Streetfighter, just a Good genuine bike.

Thanks guys :)

With the engine painted black and the swingarm too, it`ll be looking better !!
Gone for black ya know :D
Black wheels, black frame, black engine, black swingarm.
The shiney bits on the engine are coming off to be mirror polsihed, can`t wait to wheel it out the garage !

Just waiting for my mate Mark to weld some bigger flanges onto the header pipes of the new 4 into 1.

The oil cooler is gonna be replaced with a proper race style Earls oil cooler.
