Well iv done it, its up and running. Took it for a test ride this arvo, fuck does this thing go like stink. A big thanks must go to Greg (Booster) for supplying the whole kit, as well as info/help on the phone (even while he was at the pub and at the drags) The whole thing went very smoothly and took a couple of days to do. If i can do it anyone can. Ive still got a few minor things to do.... Fit the modified gear position sensor and E boost controller, modify the fairings slighty, fit the Yoshi temp gauge and the Yoshi Tri oval shorty muffler. If you have never ridden a boosted litre+ bike you dont know what your missing. Now where can i buy 8 spot calipers to suit a Busa ;)
Here are a few pics of how it stands now. To say im happy is an understatement :D Oh yeah ive already got the Katana dragbike up on the bench and will be starting on that turbo motor later this week.

VERY NICE !!!

Looks like the filter will fit under the panel and the
dump valve pipe is running back into the main exhaust.

I like your style...;)

ozkat
16-03-2008, 09:26 PM
Yeah it is rather quick, did my test ride this arvo in the rain so had to be a bit careful. I did find a straight bit of half dry road and opened it up a bit, pulls harder than a 16 yo. The filter doesnt fit under the side fairing but im on the lookout for a filter that does. Might end up using a foam style filter thats a little more flexible to fit behind the plastic. Yeah the wastegate feeds directly back into the exhaust, ill have an interesting dump pipe for the AFR fitted tho.

is there an intercooler or are you running low boost? or is it hidden under the tank (like boosters?) looks awesome too:)

ozkat
16-03-2008, 09:56 PM
Yes there is an intercooler. Its a water to air, its mounted under the tank, the small black radiator you see in front of the standard radiator is used to cool the intercooler. Its runs completly seperate from the standard cooling system, it has its own electric pump. Which is far more efficient than even a air to air intercooler.

20-03-2008, 03:47 PM
I've seen boosted 12's in the UK and in the mag's.

Would expect them to be a bit more expensive than
the more popular 13's kit's though.

The Big CC Hybrid Race Turbo System for the ZX12R can deliver up to 550bhp & potential 7 sec quarters. Worlds fastest road Kawasaki uses this kit. Andy Heads ZX12R powered with motec engine management has achieved 240mph / 384kph

Please be aware this kit requires extensive chassis modifications & the kit cost does not include stripping & rebuilding of the chassis yet the frame is required loose for fabrication & welding. It is advised that customers strip their bike & supply the frame loose for welding & modifying to seal the airbox.

Im sure it could be done cheaper though !

Well its finished, got all the Tupperware back on. Ended up having to cut a hole in the fairing for the airfilter, i didnt want to but the size of the compressor housing was just too big with a 4in inlet. I wanted to keep it looking stock but i suppose the airfilter and the EBoost kinda give it away. Fitted the Yoshi trioval and shortened it 100mm. Fitted the EBoost controller so i can change boost settings for each gear. Im only running 4psi at the moment but fuck does this thing go. Its like being shot out of a gun, it actually feels like your going to dislocate your shoulders! Im not sure what HP its producing but i reckon its around 230-240hp at a guess. Now all ive gotta do is find a 10psi spring and fill the tank with C16.

Yeah mate i have a longer underbraced arm, 2-8in. 2in over should make very little difference on the street and 8in over should go towards controling wheelies on the strip.

Im sure you already know,
Dispite having 6-pot's,
Busa brakes could be a LOT better.
Pads and lines make a good difference.

Going to leave the Stock clutch in ?
Weld up the BTL ?

Do`nt forget wavey discs coupled with the lines and pads make BIG improvements to the braking ;)

Welded billet extensions if done right are OK for this kind of power.

I had the 6" slots added to my stock swingarm by Psycleworkz in England. The spindle sits at about 4 1/2" over stock to leave some chain adjustment. But it does make a huge amount of difference to keeping both wheels on the deck ! It also hugely improves the Busa stability at speed and in the bends.
Its less twitchy and to be honest it rides much faster on the road because of the additonal stability coupled with the power.

Slam it !!! [8D]:)

If i just go with the extensions i cant lower it enough for the drag strip as the top of the standard Busa bracing will hit under the battery box.

Belive me mate ive already scared myself with the lack of brakes. They are ok on a standard Busa but fuck everything comes up twice as quick on a boosted one. Braided lines and better pads are the next step. The standard BTL will stay for now, ive added APE super heavy duty springs but will go with a multi stage lockup and maybe a BTL mod later.

Hos, the arm i have is a 600 arm with extensions welded in and underbracing added, 2-8in adjustment should be ok for both the strip and street. Ive gotta say tho, you Busa really really impresses me. I love the way you have gone about the blower install. Very stealth like. Most people wouldnt even know its been worked over till you blow them away. I have never thought of the Busa brake as being
"OK on a standard Busa". The pads and lines make
them what they should always have been. IMO.

Has the 600 arm been "trimmed" or Machined back ?
When I was after one I was told they fouled the shock
at standard ride height ?

Wasn't there something about spacing the links offset
slightly to get the dogbones to run true with a 6-arm ?

HAHAHA i thought the Busa brakes were pretty good considering the latest model bike ive ever owned was a 95 GSXR1100. But i know what you mean now.
Ive since found out that to use the 600 arm you also must use the 600 knuckle thingy it fixes any clearance issues with putting the 600 arm in the Busa.

Monoman i put the kit together, headers are RCC ,but i made most of the rest.
bottom end is std, std compression, acts like a normal busa, it starts building boost at ~4-4500 and by 7 can be at 10 psi which would be ~270-280hp. gear based boost control keeps it sane in lower gears ~3.8 psi in first .
I'm not going to do much more building of complete kits, but will source and do tech backup of various manufactures goods.work is taking up too much play time ...What year blade ? EXBEN could probably help or i know a guy that has built Blade and R1 kits , does a good job.

Monoman, until you have ridden a boosted bike its hard to explain what its like. At full throttle running near max boost you think your going to dislocate your shoulders and the seat hump is your best friend. Ive had big block 1370cc and 1350cc GSXRs and they do not come close to this. At 240kph in 4th gear, put it into 5th and nail the throttle it power wheelies at 10psi. Yet it rides like a standard Busa with a little right hand self control. I think i have the best of both worlds, a bike i can ride to work, sit in city traffic without a worry, kinda looks no different than a standard Busa, is not overly loud and doesnt attract the law. Or an insanely fast, powerful, arm dislocating, pants shitting, 200kph+ wheelie machine. I love it. Im just down the road from you at Nerang, anytime you want to check the turbo install out let me know, im more than happy to have a beer with you, or go for a ride.
