Howdy Hagarr tis a nice part of the world. Even better in the hills where I am I’ve only recently got back on a bike and joined in the hope of focussing less on work and more on having some fun. Thanks for responding.

Hey Tony I’m looking at starting with a 240 rear tyre because from what I understand it will need a new a new swingarm kit. Working my way forward from there. Ive seen some bikes on ASF ect and there blowing my mind, I would send you a pic but I need to upgrade my membership, happening today. In the meantime I’m looking for inspiration anywhere I can get it.

240 rear huh? I take it you don't like the hinterland roads then.

240 kit conversions aren't cheap as they have done all the work, but not only that, they only do them for popular monoshock sportsbikes: http://roaringtoyz.com/parts_wide-tire-kits-240.html - The Australian importer is Brad at Bikecraft in Melbourne.

As you have a twin shock set up, you will have a lot more trouble.

Ben built this one back in 2006:

8308

with Carrozzeria wheels which I think he is still a dealer for - https://www.forged-wheel.com/

He may be able to give you details. I personally think that once you get the back end tidied up, you don't really need a 240 as it look pretty good anyway.

Check this selection (most photos are still there): http://www.streetfighters.com.au/forum/showthread.php?9644-Suzuki-GSX1400

The hinterland roads are a nightmare Gamma but that’s not my motivation, I’m trying to build something I’m going to be stoked with and that photo that Gix just posted is exactly what I’m trying to achieve. It’s a beast.

Thanks Gix the bike is mad, that’s what I’m aiming for, over time. Great info thanks for that.

Also can I change my username or do I need to start a new account.

14's are a bit tame and lard arse but can be improved on.
Plenty of torque but lack top end punch.

190/55 rear, or 190/50 and raise the suspension a little.
Full system, Yoshi Cyclone or Acrappybitch, blank the PAIRs and a PC111 with a dyno map.
Some decent tyres and fix the front suspension, stock rear shocks aren't actually that bad when in good condition.
(Yoshi cams are another popular performance mod)
6-plop calipers can be replaced with decent 4 pots or radials on adapters.m

Motor suffered from not being directly related to another model,
Its a stand alone lump so no easy GSXR swaps etc and its wider across the cases than the GSX / GSXR / Bandit range.
Also zero US sales mean no abundance of spares or heaps of US tuners experience.

Folk do make them go! I know to a few 1600 and 1700 ones, but stuff like odd injected spacing
means serious ponys never come cheap.

I do like mine. Not super aggressive but fun and useable.

Sorry bbb, didn't make it to the Sun. We are going for a ride to Texas on Saturday and staying there the night. Leaving Byron about 10 if you want to come for a ride, or ride part of the way.

Thanks Tony, great advice, its clear Im getting out of my depth and need to be realistic about the potential of this bike. I'll definitely raise the suspension a little and stick with current tyre, however I do love the wide tyres, but as I said, being realistic is the key.

The bike has a LOT of potential, its just not as easy to achieve as some models.

The 14 responds well to a full system etc, it might not set new records but its a very good bike for at it is.
