I need some advise on timing for my turbo bandit, how far should I retard the timing from standard.... my paper work says 40 degree is standard.... how much should I take out ....

Welcome aboard mate.
I'm not the man to answer this one, but I know a few turbo guys will be in sooner or later to help you out.

Cheers

Hi,

"Disclaimer"
Below worked for ME, may not work for you and your setup.

I retarded my Oil cooled GSXR750 5° when I first turbo'ed it at 5PSI, now on 9PSI with the same timing.

I slotted the mounting holes on the pick up plate and indexed each 1° so I can set it to any position.
I just set it at -5° and left it super safe.
Across the 4 exhausts the temps are 820°C +/- 10°C as it is so I don't think I'll be changing the timing anytime soon.
I did tune each carby.
There's plenty of power to be had in timing but I don't want the motor to let go just for the sake of messing around.
It has NEVER knocked at -5° even when the wastegate failed and it unleased all the 25 booooosts waiting to get out.

Have you read this?

Doesn't say anything about timing but there is lots of good info in there.

We need a lot more info on the set up and pics.
EFI or Carbs?
Draw through or Blow through?
Intercooler?
