How do all.Been some time since been on this site.

I`ve recently bought another Bandit. This time a Gen 1, and promptly ditched the fairings to make it naked.

Now...with this bike, I don`t want to go nuts with mods, but to keep it clean, and only minor body alterations.

"The Arse End"
I like the front to the middle on the Gen1, but the back is just too big. I`m after something that is simply slimmer, to help with the lines of the bike, without going radical street fighter.

I want to know, if there`s any make or model, that easily adapts to the Gen1, without major frame alterations, if at all.
Common sense tells me, that what ever goes on, the frame will have to suit the donah, but I`m also looking at, if I so those to, could put back to standard if desired?

Once its done, the likelihood of me putting it back standard, probably won`t happen, but if for some bizarre reason, I wanted put it back, for sale reasons, I can.

Appreciate any feedback,
Cheers John

Not havering a bolt on subframe isn't ideal for swapping tail.
It gets done but many still look odd with the stock subframe showing.

The expensive, easy, non-chopping subframe way is to buy aftermarket bodywork
made for a Mk-1. Seen a few in the past. Not cheap and limited options though.

Sticking different bodywork on a standard Bandit 12 subframe isn't ideal.

Well..you`ve just given me an idea straight up..

I could make some cleats, from original welded points,
so I can put anything on, as well as putting the original back on.

Thanks for the thread mate.

Also thanks for jolting my brain back into rhythm, as for the logical solution. Good old nut and bolt.

Forgot you posted this twice mate so I replied to thew other one! Tony basically said what I did there, but here it is again anyway:

The old "So I can out it back to standard" thing always gets in the way mate. It will look half arsed if you don't do the full job. There's no such thing as a simple replacement tail end on bikes, nothing (apart from custom made specifically) will bolt staright on. The Banidt is a very popular base for this kind of project, so you may find there are actual after market tails that just bolt straight on, but as for other production bike tails, forget it.

Somewhere like Just Bandits will probaly be the place to look or ask for that kind of thing: http://www.justbandits.com/bandit-pa...html?limit=all (http://www.justbandits.com/bandit-parts/bodywork-parts.html?limit=all)

If you want to do it properly though, your best bet is to find the tail you like the look of and then get the entire subframe and arse end and mount that to your main frame. Here are a LOT of photos for you to get ideas from:

http://www.streetfighters.com.au/for...Suzuki-Bandits (http://www.streetfighters.com.au/forum/showthread.php?9305-Suzuki-Bandits)

The steel tubular frame makes it an easy wleding job for someone, and if you're dead keen you could even cut the whole original off tidily and reweld that back on for "converting it back to standard" later.

Thanks GIX11,
Yeah, your probably right there, just a straight neat cut will be easy for refit, if at all necessary.

I wont find it hard to do the job, but more the brain tease, of what I want that suits me.

There`s and endless supply of photos to choose from for ideas, almost to the point its do`n my head in,
and then I start to see single swing arms, and now that's got me going.

What are, if at all, people doing for engineered approved alterations, be it, body or swing arms?

Do most not give a shit, and go with the flow?
What happens when you get some nazi cop, who`s savvy to it all, and scrutinizes your....adjustments?

You just need a compliance plate, or, as a lot of blokes I know do, take it to a roadworthy inspection and if you have done a proper job and finished it well, most guys will put it through. I don't know your welding skills, but I wouldn't be welding it yourself it's your first job!? :) If you're a competent welder and the finish will look factory, then you'll have no problems.

Thanks mate.
I`m a boilermaker. Fabrication and gluing steel is what I do.

Thanks again Gix11
