Are they necessary? Just wondering because in it's original position, it will foul the headlight on a fighter.
So I was wondering, can it be moved easily or just removed altogether?

Haven't had one on mine in the last 7 years.
(and I run a slightly taller 190/55 rear tyre)
Renthal 789's give me lots of leverage.

Never had a drama.

I asked the question over at faceplant a while ago seems most removed other put after market ones on as they are much chop the factory ones . Not long after asking that a mate told me he took his off his tls and had no dramas we swapped bikes for a sting back to town i got light over this bridge and she had a little moment nothing major but was enough for me to think ill leave mine on . Though the front light and stuff im thinking i reckon mie will clear . If it was me id leave it or find an alternative

I didn't have one on mine and it was solid as a rock, never had an issue at the drags or in the hills.

I figured that the wide 'bars would make up for not having a damper. So I'll leave it off.

(one less fucking thing to do!)

I have this exact question for my K3 1000, It's in the way of the my fully sick headlight and we can't have that can we I think I may remove it also.. plus I ride like a girl..

Remove the original Todd and fit a fancy one to the top clamp/tank mounts...

The test ride without one was a 2000K AFR long weekend to Dubbo.
It's done Macksville, Agnes Waters, Casino and a 100 other runs
chasing sportsbikes around the mountains and dams.
It's done 1000's of K's witha pillion and ran 10.3's at the strip.
Its starting to wear through the belly pan.

After 8 years and now running a taller rear tyre, I still have no damper.

Wide bars, well set up suspension and a sense of adventure !

haha question was asked for a Busa and we've had reply on a TLS (well known for having a tantrum and throwing people off in stock trim) and question for a Gixxer

On my Gixxer I've kept the standard damper and the headlight still fits. In saying that the headlight on mine tapers up at the bottom so the damper just sits perfectly in there.

The Busa is a nice heavy stable bike unlike the TL.

On tthe R1 i never ran a damper and never had an issue (01 model not the previous 98/99 as they had crap geometry and were know to have a hissy fit as well.)
