Looking at getting a 95 model gsxr 1100 and before I pick it up I'm already looking for parts so I'm wondering if anybody knows what year a vfr 800 swing arm would be best for the gixxer or doesn't it matter? Any body know of or has other parts laying about to transform this standard bike into a rough as guts chick puller?

I've got an MV sssa that I'm planning on using in my '95 1100. I could be wrong but I think the vfr 750 arm is an easier fit, the 800s are wider at the pivot or something. .....

I used a 2003 VFR800 swing ( I think) and machined the swinger down 35mm (I think) at the axle.. welded in a heap of gussets and a pipe between the pivots, them re machined the bearings .. it's been a while...
the 750 fits much easier with just a couple of spacers.

Yep, the VFR750 arm was a better for the Gixers.

The vfr750 arm is the easiest But........as with all these thing's there are also 2 types of 750 arm and one is much easier to use than the other. The one you want has a single large mounting lug on the underside that has a steel triangular suspension link plate on each side. The bottom of the triangular plates has a dogbone link back to the frame, and the Middle point of the triangle takes the shock bottom bolt. So, I believe they fit in the frame with only a spacer or 2, then the suspension can be adjusted to suit your shock length etc by making simple replacement steel triangle plates which can be easily made with an angle grinder and drill. Oh I think the shocks might be offset in the arm so an offset top shock mount might be required? But anyway, there is quite a bit of info on the net various places about it.

That's a bummer, keep looking though. Those later watercooled 1100 's still seem pretty common, just the oil boilers that are getting scarcer.
