Hi guys!!!
So names Matt. Recently purchased a 94 Honda cbr600. Few steetfighter style mods. No front/side fairings, aftermarket front head/light panel ect...
Now previous owner has done an aftermarket dash cluster. He can't remember where he got it from and has no info on it.
Hasn't been wired up right.
I get revs (which seems to be a bit jumpy/erratic), indicator lights, and night beam sign (which is on all the time).
Don't get any thing else. No fuel, no temp reading. Not sure if speed works as if yet. Haven't taken it for a decent ride as it not regoed yet.
Also didn't hold memory. Trip always starts at 0 and clock starts at 12:00.
Just weighing up some options
*try and pay/find an auto electrician to fix with no info on what brand/type of dash it is. No wiring diagram ect...
*purchase a new cluster and start again? (if you where to get one for a decent price, please let me know)
If anyone in the Brisbane area can help out with it, that would be awesome!

Cheers Matt.

I could be wrong but it kinda looks like a koso unit. Any markings on the unit at all ?
I assume you've tried the googles for info ? Ie search for aftermarket bike instruments in google images ? Long shot but stranger things have happened.

Oh and welcome.

All KOSO's I've seen have a red / white KOSO logo somewhere on the face.

That looks like a cheap nasty Chinese fake.

You're probably right Tony. I've had nought to do with them it just looks familiar

Yeah, very similar to a KOSO, I think it's a budget copy based on one.
I only thought so because I bought one and have been looking for another (KOSO)
so have read up a bit recently. Not had my to do with the Chinese version.

Thanks guys! Yeah looks very similar to KOSO. A cheap knock off by the looks. No numbers or brand any where to be seen.
Might get a new koso one and start again it think.
Got the speedo working (its the magnet style), but its playing up and dash keep losing power when I touch the rev while the bikes running . Looks like a bad earth by the looks. But finding that is a different story haha.
Any dealers in Australia stock dash/clusters what to get one soon if possible.
Trying to sort a roadworthy on Monday so I have transport haha. Hopefully have this dash looking half decent for the r/w

My KOSO came from the UK. The link I posted above.
Not cheap and worse now with the dollar / £ exchange.
Good instructions and lots of features though.
Been on a couple of years with no dramas.

Yeah it looks good! What speedo type did you go with? Magnets or the cable option?
Can get one $335 +postage from the site stated above.

My GSX1400 has an electric speedo feed from the front sprocket.
I'm not great at electrics and wasnt sure how compatible it was.

I took a feed from the front end. No magnets though.
I just ran one wire down along the brake hose and a small sensor counts the
disc brake bobbins. Works fine. Easy to set up. Double checked and adjusted
with my phone tracking and and my sat-nav.

I chose the rev scale to suit the rev range of the 1400 motor.
There were different options for slow reving V-twins or screaming sportsbikes
as well as black or white faces.

Not real clue'd up on other KOSO dash's as this was my first but I'm now
looking at another for my current build. Some others may use magnets ?

Not mine, just a google image search, but I used one of the little brackets
(Top, slightly right) mounted off a caliper bolt, to hold the pick up reader
(Bottom left) so it sat a couple of mm of the disk brake bobbins.

I used the indicators, main beam, clock lights, oil ligh, fuel gauge, all off the bikes
original feed inside the headlight. There are heaps of bits I haven't wired up yet,
temperature senders etc.

Clock has a few neat features, it has shift and pre shift lights,
an "over speed warning light" for when I'm do lots of highway touring,
it remembers my highest speed and revs from the last trip counter setting,
lots of other stuff that I haven't looked into yet.

Ah sweet. Also found these to. In Australia also so quick postage and cheaper too.
Checked them out youtube ect... They look quite decent! Think I'll go with this.

Have just bought another Acewell 2853 speedo unit off S3 (Fried the last one in a jump starting incident on Saturday). Have used them before for disc's and 'stuff', they were pretty good to with delivery from memory. Cheap too when compared to the likes of Flea Bay.

Ben also carries Acewell if you want another option in Sydney: http://www.store.extremecreations.com.au/dashes He usually works a deal if you mention you are from ASF.

I'd say someone has made a mess at wiring it in. The fact that the trip meter and clock reset would be that instead of wiring in a constant power they have wired in after the ignition.

You should have 2 power wires going into the clocks, one constant and one after ignition.

Tacho issue could wither be cheap clocks or the pick-up off the coil isn't done properly

Any clock worth having wont lose its trip counter and settings by removing the battery.
My stock bikes don't and neither does the KOSO.
Only thing I lose removing the battery is the time.

Not many, but some. Let us know when you get the bike back out on the road and we'll have to try something.
