Hey all. My fuel pump has kicked the bucket. I am not wanting to gravity feed it due to having to keep the fuel at a reasonable level so before I buy a new one I was wondering if anyone had any tricks to get them going again??

Gravity feed it mate. It'll be fine just remember to turn the tap off.
I've done it successfully just run the shortest route fuel lines to the carbs.
Basically take the line from the petcock and join it to the carb splitter line if that makes sense.

Also if you need a pump try findapart.com. I've found that site very helpful.
Or a low volume carb pump off ebay would do the trick you'll just have to wire it into your loom.

I think the CBR fuel pumps have points in them that you can replace??

Or just buy a new one from China:

Thanks for the reply guys. As I said, I am not going to gravity feed it. I've done a bit of reading on it and if it was ideal as it is with some of the later model 'blades I can't see why they would have put one on there as standard if there wasn't a good reason. I've heard of people chewing the engines from them running too lean and struggling at high revs with a quarter full tank. I am going to try and replace the points. I don't trust anything mechanical from China.

Has anyone replaced the points on any of their fuel pumps?? Im thinking that for an extra $50 I can get a new one. Plug and play.

I diverted the fuel line straight to the carbs, rode it home and it started running again. Must have been a blockage somewhere. I'm yet to check the lines. I ordered a new filter, so when I install that and inspect the lines i'll get back to you!

Update: Fitted a new fuel filter, runs much better now. God knows what stopped the fuel pump working intermittently, but now it's running much smoother than before!
