So in the last couple of weeks my shed has filled a bit with 3 new project/basket cases rolling in

A ZX9 a GSX750 and last but not lest a KR250.
The KR will get some love while the other 2 sit and wait.
As it sits at the moment it's going to head the cafe racer route , Lets see how this plays out

I had an 89 Aussie one with aftermarket expansion chambers and it would out drag them.

Well just did a cooling system check and comp test both are good so onto the next step.
Comp is 115psi cold both cylinders with 3 kicks so I am sure it would come up when warm. Only concern I have is the crank seals won't know whats going on till the weekend and I get it running up to operating temp. But happy

Pulled the carbs off today for check over and clean, Yep they needed it still have them soaking in the ultra sonic bath.

While I was playing I put the bore scope in the crank case and cylinder, they look OKish could be better its had some water in it at some point. May pull it down and bang some new bearings in it just to be safe.

I filled it with WD40 last week and flushed it out today to get some of the junk out got out a far bit of sludge and shit so once I get the carbs back on I will get it upto temp and test the gear box and do a soft test run down the road just to make sure it all works.

At this stage I will retain the stock tail just reshape the seats , round headlight and new dash, flat bars or similar . Still thinking about the wheels, forks swinger either stay stock or swap it out still undecided

Started pulling the motor down today . Bores are a little pitted and stained going to give it a real good hone and see how it comes up. If not I will start looking at options. Will get the rest of it out and down once I can get it on the table.

Apparently you can't get pistons etc for this so going to do some looking, Some info:
Make Model- Kawasaki KR 250

Year- 1984

Engine- Liquid cooled, two stroke, parallel twin cylinder

Capacity- 249cc

Bore x Stroke- 56.0 x 50.6mm

Compression Ratio- 7.4:1

Max Power- 45hp @ 10000rpm

Max Torque- 3.7kg-m @ 8000rpm

Back in the day people used to make a 310cc kit for the KR250. They used a KE175D piston. All piston measurements are exactly the same except for the diameter

This could be an option just need to sort a head gasket to suit
