I wish to make some adjustable length connecting rods for a trail bike sidecar I'm working on. I'm not sure of the correct terminology, but I think I'm after some Heim Joints. They are a threaded eye bolt type thingy that screw into an internally threaded tube type thingy.
Would any of the engineering types around here know where I can purchase these things?

Nearly all bearing shops sell them.

Yeh I found that with a bit more searching. But I cant find any internally threaded rod/tube.
What I do have however, is some 16mm stainless threaded rod (that I "found"). So I was thinking I could cut it to length (which will only be around 150mm) and use female rod ends to make the adjustable connector that I need.
I know fuck all about what I'm attempting to achieve, so if there are some glaring errors, please feel free to correct me!

They are also known as rod ends you could make up a tube with some threaded inserts welded in each end and screw a male into each end you can get left or right hand threaded these are imperial http://www.vpw.com.au/Category/Index/165364

Make sure you have nice sharp taps and or dies to cut threads on or into stainless.....

Just use some bamboo and twine and let us know when you take it out for the first time.

You could weld in the 16mm threaded rod and use female ends or get some Weld in bungs.

If you get get rh and lh thread bungs and rodends and get the bungs in a hex, you can adjust what you're holding without taking the rod off.

I like that stuff Large. But my welding ability is basic at best so I'd have to farm it out to someone with a clue. Which would cost me more than the whole project so far. I think I'll go with the 16mm threaded rod and female rod ends to start. If shit gets out of shape, I'll do it the right way!
Thanks for the input chaps
