View Full Version : Will this subframe set up be strong enough?

The bolt is a 200mm M10 in 316 stainless, when it's all torqued to spec everything should be under tension & strong enough, right? The spacers are solid alloy & there's no play in it at all.

(Obviously the two lower mount are used also, just not shown in the photo)

Thoughts?

Stainless are not really a good idea they can be brittle high tensile is best , 10mm should hold 1/2 of a ton

Thanks. I think...

OK, so a hi tensile bolt might be a better idea, I'll see what I can find.

It's all in shear so shouldn't be a prob, I'd like to see 12mm but as ice said I have seen worse...

10mm was the original bolt the held the previous subframe on, I've simply widened it by 50mm, but not sure what the old bolt was, strength wise though, plus wider means more leverage on the bolt, potentially...

I used 8mm disc bolts and is as strong as an ox, looks good to me.

I've got turnbuckles supporting the subframe here.........
