Definitely around Easter.

Gix11
14-01-2015, 08:45 AM
Yep, it lands directly on Easter, which as we know usually causes problems. Alternatively, we just say "fuck it" and do the Easter weekend?

Funnily enough was just talking to Bob about this on the weekend.

That we were Jules, Is there any where round north of Sydney or maybe blue mountains ? I'm unsure weather I can make it or not due to the new job but very keen try make it. Other ideas?

K6Thou

Bathurst any good ? Roads ? accommodation ? I'm just spit balling here......

Weaselman
15-01-2015, 01:38 PM
Bathurst is ok but there is nothing really challenging. Accommodation is sketchy too seeing as the miners take all the hotels. (I broke down up there and could find a single room.
But you could do blue mountians/ jenolan caves, lithgow, bells line ect.

K6Thou
15-01-2015, 03:28 PM
Yeah I have very little idea of the area..... The closer to qld the better, well for me anyway lol

Turns out April the 1st is a Wednesday, so the weekend before is as close as the one after to the 1st. This means it would be the one the weekend before without any problems. No triple points and no other prior Easter engagements.

MONO

Gloucester is sort of in between Sydney and Brisbane, and a sort of loop for the Saturday ride

I have no idea of my work situation at that time so can't commit to anything yet.

What about Walcha?

Some good roads to get there and a run down and back up the oxley on the sat?

Bob
23-01-2015, 06:02 PM
I think Walcha comes up as gingers creek on Google maps. I think there was a problem with not enough accommodation. To be honest I don't mind going back to Warchope. There was a decent pub, bike parking and cool road to ride.

StuNVA
23-01-2015, 06:20 PM
Walcha or Wauhope are both good spots and have good pubs, Walcha can get bloody cold but, even in April

how about Broken Hill

K6Thou

Broken Hill is a bit far south for me....... Anywhere around Wauchope is doable, even if it is a two day trip to get there.

Walcha Road is actually about half way between Walcha and bendemeer, no servo, no shops, just a pub. maybe not a great place to stay.

Bob

Any other ideas of location. I know weasel wasn't keen on Warchope again. I don't mind to be honest if we go there. Anyone?

I'll ring a couple of the pubs at Walcha tomorrow and see what they can do too. The Commercial and The New England are both OK but the Apsley Arms is a bit rich. I'm happy to stay at either Walcha or Wauchope, Wauchope I get to ride the Oxley three times though.

Wherevs I'm in.

StuNVA

The Star at Wauchope is booked out by another crowd. The Hastings is unlikely but I'll know tomorrow.

The New England at Walch can look after us, they have 4 levels of accomodation and three sheds to lock bikes in if needed.
Hotel rooms $35 head or $40 / room, sleeps 2.
Motel rooms $70 / single, $80 double or $100 room that sleeps three.

I'll post up what The Hastings can do once I've talked to them tomorrow.

I have also talked to the Pub at Long Flat and they could also handle us as well for $35/head it's pretty basic pub accomodation and the bikes are basically left on the road or a few can fit behind the pub or under the BBQ area, but basically open parking.
