hey guys. i got a 2005 bandit frame that i can register. i want to fit a 2002 xjr1300 motor to it. does anybody know what the law is with swapping out bike motors?

Best to speak to an engineer before starting.

My understanding, although could be outdated! the Motorcycle becomes based around what the engine has been fitted with in terms of compliance but not really up to speed where cross pollination of makes is concerned.

Example 1973 Z900 replaced with 1982 Gpz1100 motor (if possible! Example only) must comply to 1982 emissions etc.

Flame me if I'm wrong but that's my understanding.

But in your case being 2005 Bandit, if the Yammy (2002) didn't comply to 2005 standards you'd need to show evidence it could or did!

ah ok so its probarbly best to just find a 05 or newer bandid motor then. would have to shop some more then. thanks guys

as stated ask the question to a engineer, I would be surprized if they didnt let you but yr not gaining much by doing so other
than you already have the motor
