Hey guys, my headlights are acting up. Every now and then they will ocme on for a second and then switch off for around two minutes. Same on high beam. However if you hold in the pass trigger they stay on just fine, any ideas?

Not sure about the relay, GSXR 1100, its a standard setup with a non staandard light if that helps.

what year mate ?

I had that problem on my '85 gsxr-750...traced it to a fucked headlight switch.....well the contacts were fubar. Looking at the diagram for my '88 I'd say the prob could be in the HI\LO beam switch.....could be dirty contacts...If ya close to the Liverpool area bring it over and I can suss it out for ya.

Wouldn't surprise me actually, they looked pretty dodgy last time I opened them up. I'll check it tommorrow. Thanks.

I'd start with the switch and local wiring.

Had the same thing on my gsxr1000
and it was one of the connectors.

I have a feeling its something more than the switch, I reconnected the battery and it switched on for a second and then off again. Didnt go near the switch... SOunds like its the same problem Funkenfresh. I'll have a troubleshoot tommorrow and let you know how it goes.

OK I found my problem. Off the main connector the connects the dimmer switch on the clutch side to the main loom comes off a single yellow wire which connects seperately. THe wire had rotted away like so many of the other wires on my bike. Replacing this did the job. All i can say is take off your tank and check your loom. Its a pain but its worth it. let me know how you go.

Yeah, few wires went green with corrosion. The plastic will look like crap too. If your trigger still works im betting the problem is between the clutch switch and the loom.

I'm going out on a limb but looking at the schematics I'd say the only wire that could cause the trouble is a yellow and white one. (mainly yellow). This was also the one causing my trouble. Assuming its not your switch that is...
