Got a mate who I'm trying to get onto this site as he's looking at buying an 04 ZX12R. The only person I've seen fighter one was Peter. Is there any obvious reason why it's not a weapon of choice more often? Or is it just cause it's not a GSXR1000?

If there's a reason, I'll get him to keep looking.

Apart from an ugly frame isn't there some issue with the ram air and getting them to run properly when the plastics off ?

Agree with stunva, the frame looks shit. But everyone can have the same bike, do it

Poor mans Busa when faired.

Ugly when naked.

Lacks the Busa's huge aftermarket parts and R&D.

It's a competitor for the Hayabusa but not the GSXR1000,
the 1000 has less grunt but is a lighter, nimble bike.

I had a mint one for sale, couldn't get a bite at $2k / $2.5k less
than the equivalent Suzuki would have sold for.

Not bad bikes at all as stock though.

I'll recommend he increase his budget to try get a GSXR1000.

Then he can chat to Jules and a few others

Zx12R is off the table now. He snow looking at either an 06 SV1000 with 30,000kms or an 04 Z1000 with 36,000kms.

Any thoughts? At least the Z1000 has USD forks.

A lot of blokes swap out the usds on the z1000 from what I have heard not sure why

Poor to average suspension at both ends.

Forks have compression damping in one leg
and rebound damping in the other.

Common to see sportsbike back and front ends used.

Suspension isn't the worst in the world,
but if you ride one back to back with a ZX6R or similar
it's quite noticeable.

Here's a basic streetfighter, I recon it looks good, you basically don't see the frame.
