Yoshi cams for a GSX14 seem to go for over £500,
knocking a hole in $1000 over here.

How hard is it to get custom cams made if you have a set of genuine Yoshi cams to copy?

Not just grinding or reprofiling, I'd imaging they would need to be built up? Hardened?

No R&D required just a direct copy.

Would you have to start from a blank?
Can you build up and harden material?

Who would you use and would it be cost effective (based on a few sets) ?

More to the point.... dumb idea or practical alternative to Yoshi's ?

Just buy the Yoshi can cost u up to 75 and no less than 50 a lobe for the regrind
Depending on what needs done they need to be welded
Only a few places left worth useing
Have you looked at Webb cams out the states

No, haven't tried Web but Yoshi's have a very good rep with the 14
and the 14 wasn't sold in the US market so they have limited interest.

Do a search for Livewire's post 'Tighe Cams - fuck em' Tony, IIRC he had some serious issues with their product.

I used to defend Tighes because I'd had no problems with the set of cams I just sold, and the cams in my car, but I've just stripped my motor down due to a disintegrating crank bearing, and discovered the set of Tighe weld and grinds that came with a head I bought had suffered heavy wear, and a couple of bits that have flaked off that look like they might have been welding flaws/inclusions. Now, I don't know how old or when they were done (I suspect they were done before the cams I had done, but hadn't seen allot of use before I used them), anyway, they've fucked out, so it seems I've had a 66% strike rate, 4 good cams, 2 not so good. Web also hardface some of their cams the same way, so who knows.
