hello all
I've brought a CB250RS back to life and its now on the road. But its got bugger all power so I'm swapping out the engine for a XL500R which will hopefully inject some more fun into the bike. I want to strip it back to get the most out of it so will be sniffing around the forums to get some ideas on what I can do for the bike.
Take it easy

There is this old bloke that used to race old bikes back in the 90's oh ! Hang on maybe a bit earlier than that, anyway his name is Geoff Ballard. Ask him if he has any 630 cc heads he may have laying around. If not in 1998/9 honda released a model dubbed the "Tanami" they did an HRC 630 kit that looks identical to standard. Where as Geoff had HUGE fin's welded on his,see Geoff is a racer & most race's are won in the pits or the start grid. Make sure 3rd gear is not winging like a houso ! If you find a second hand one, pressure check the head, as they crack between the valve ports. HRC is preferred. Call a honda dealer, yes there are plenty big bore pistons but with a big single the head is the "bus stop"

here are some pictures of bike as is and donor engine - health currently unknown - but looking at the amount of gasket cement it might have been stripped down a few times53455346534753485349
